What with the damn grammar police in this thread?

I was actually trying to make the point that "there" could have been correct in the context instead of trying to fix anything.

Jae-Hoon Ha had a nice second at-bat in the Futures Game, after his second-inning home run. He fell into a 1-2 count against Baltimore's Dylan Bundy, arguably the top pitching prospect in the game, but delivered a single to left field. He waited back on a 78-mph curveball -- a drop of about 20 mph from the fastballs that Bundy throws -- and pulled the ball between shortstop and third base. Ha did have a harrowing experience in center field. He froze for a second on a Billy Hamilton liner and couldn't recover as it carried over his head for a triple. Still it's been the kind of performance that could energize him for the second half.

Saw Baez today in Cedar Rapids. I think visually it's partly due to his waggle and leg kick but damn he has a quick bat. He ripped a single up the middle in his first AB then stole 2nd without a throw after getting an enormous jump. He was ahead 2-1 on his K but was late on an inside 93 mph fastball and whiffed on the breaking ball next pitch. Made 2-3 nice plays at SS. He definitely carries himself with some swagger.

I never knew he had a tattoo of the MLB logo on the back of his neck.

He will have a very nice career as a 19th century train robber if baseball doesn't work out for him.

I remember someone wondering if James Pugliese still threw a knuckle ball. I asked him about it today, this is what he said:

James Pugliese (@Pugs51)

@Vinestal I have. First day I came in pro ball I said I have a knuckle ball and they said not to use it unless I need it in the future.

So I guess they told him no knuckleball

I'm not so sure Alberto Cabrera isn't my top pitching prospect for us at the moment. At least until Pierce Johnson gets on the mound. Cabrera's been phenomenal out of the pen. I think he's our best hope to find a closer in house. His stuff has really played up out of the pen. Props to Toonster, who's been on him for a couple of years, saying he needed to be put in late inning situations, instead of starting.

Yeah, the only guys I would rank ahead of him would be Johnson and maybe Blackburn...and I really don't like ranking relievers too high.

Ben Wells is still #1 for me, but Cabrera's not to far behind. Other than that, until Maples or one of the 2012 picks do something, then there's just Rosario, McNutt, Struck, Raley, Beliveau, Loosen, Jokisch, Kirk, and a few others all lumped together. Hopefully, our 2013 top pitching prospects come back in trades for Dempster and Garza.
