Vitters declined the spot in the HR derby that Myers also turned down (that I mentioned in yesterday's thread, I think).

Geez. What's with the lack of love for the HR Derby?

It does them no good in their quest to become major league players, and there is a perception that this type of event can hurt your performance in the following weeks.

i don't understand how this is much different than trying to hit home runs in batting practice.

I don't think hitting coaches want you trying to hit HR in BP. But taking an out of control hack or two is probably different than going through an entire tournament of HR hacks.

Buckner commented the other day that if a guy does hit one out in BP for Boise, they are required to either go up-the-middle or opposite-way on their next swing. Don't want guys getting HR-happy.

Steven Bruno has 6 errors in 12 games.

Marcano and Malave each are hitting .250. But K-rates are very modest. Malave has 19 walks and 83 AB.

Jackson took the first 3 pitches out of the zone, before looking at strike 1, missing strike 2, and looking at strike 3. Vitters with a 4-pitch walk.

judging by the gamecast, vitters swung at a first pitch in the dirt with the bases loaded and the pitcher having walked the previous two batters on 9 pitches total. :?

did hit a sac fly on a 1-2 pitch though.

There's a reason they call them Runs Batted In and not Runs Walked In, Bro
