Nerves from Jokisch in the first couple AA starts with all the walks? Doesn't look like he was having any control issues in Daytona.

Whitenack hasn't pitched in at least a week. Anybody know what's up?

Anybody hear anything about what's wrong with szczur and how long he'll be out?

Any updates on Wells?

Whitenack pitched exactly a week ago today. Not sure what's wrong with any of them.

Nothing on Whitenack that I can find. Wells left yesterday with an injury of some sort, but it has not been disclosed. Daytona won't even say if Szczur is actually hurt or not.

Yesterday would have been Whitenack's turn to pitch again (thanks to rain delays/doubleheaders, he was on 5 days rest). =\

Not sure what is going on in the Iowa game, but Anthony Rizzo was not in the lineup but pinch ran for the pitcher De La Cruz, who was replaced by Jay Jackson. Rizzo is now out of the game.

Every time Jay Jackson comes out of the bullpen, he looks like he could actually be in the majors one day. 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 4 K

We wouldn't want him blocking prospects like Ryan Rowand Smith and Nate Robertson.

Does he do anything different when he comes out of the bullpen like throw more or less of a certain pitch? Does he throw more strikes? Does his velo tick up?

No clue, but the split has to be insane. Don't have the exact numbers, but would like to see them.

They really should revisit converting him to the bullpen before sticking a fork on him or dubbing him as organizational.

Looks like Jay Jackson came out of the bullpen tonight. 1.2 innings, 2 h, 3 K

Interesting.

From what I've heard his velocity goes up a decent amount out of the pen. I've heard up to 95 out of the pen, while he's around 90-91 as a starter.

Ok, cool. That's fairly significant. I think at this point his only way to MLB is as a relief pitcher. I guess if they feel they want him to stay a starter in the minors to get more consistent outings, get more pitches in per outing, really focus on something I'm fine with that. But hopefully he's in consideration for a call up next time we are looking to add a bullpen arm from within the system.
