Where is that guy with his 10 stop watch trials telling us that diving into first is faster and the only reason runners don't do it is they don't want a face full of track?

Well played.

That remains my all-time favorite NSBB argument. The guy hand-timed his friends in college. What more proof do you need?

You ever have one of those at third bounce off your palm and go 20+ feet straight up while you tried to figure out what happened?

Why the hell would anyone hate Ryan Dempster?

People continue to suckle on Dumpster’s teat as if it were Salma Hayek’s. He gave up 6 hits, 4 walks, and 6 ERs in under 5 innings today, but it’s not his fault. Couldn’t be. No, instead the sucklers look at his sub 3.00 ERA, his still sparkling 1.15 WHIP, his anemic run support and declare him the best EVAH.

I gave up this battle long ago on message boards, but the fire still burns. Dumpster puts the over in rated. If only the Cubs could somehow maroon him on Gilligan’s Island. Or at least Des Moines. One last year and perhaps, finally, we’ll be done with him. Free at last, Free at last, thank God Almighty, they’ll be Free at last.

I know Banedon is the only one that agrees with me, but I think it is faster to dive head first, since you immediately gain 6'. However I don't think the risk of injury outweighs the extra .01 second you gain.

Nice play by Barney.

You also lose forward momentum by bending over and stopping your propulsion forward. At best it's a wash, at worst you're slowing yourself too much.

I don't think immediately means what you think it means.

First, there is no over in the word rated. You're doing it wrong.

Second, where the hell were you when he was allowing 0 -2 runs in 7+ innings per start the first month and getting no run support? He's had 3 starts of nine now that weren't GREAT. Go away.

This would actually probably be a pretty interesting thing for the ESPN Sports Science guy to break down.
