Man, I wish they would have just started him and let him go as long as he could. One last time.

They should have started him yesterday in Volstad's place.

I'm interested to hear the details about this, someday. I have a feeling the Cubs were going to cut ties with him and allowed him to do it on his own terms.

Godspeed, Kerry.

I hope not. This team is crap on a stick and it hurts nothing to have Kerry Wood on the team.

I'm kind of disappointed that his final ovation didn't feature any "Ker-ry, Ker-ry" chants.

@ESPNChiCubs Wood gets Viciedo on three pitches. Here comes Quirk. Crowd chants "Kerry!"

Seriously, that's not a very likely theory.

I also was at the 2003 game five victory in Atlanta. It was my all-time favorite moment as a Cubs fan.

A few years back I got to have my picture taken with Kerry. He was and will be one of my favorite Cubs.

Just saw the video of the last K and ovation. What a great moment. Not a lot of guys get to go out like that.

Were they just dying to get Randy Wells and Scott Maine back up here?

I thought I was sadly indifferent to Wood's career finally coming to an end, but seeing that clip of the ovation and his reactions just killed me.

So long, Kerry.

I'm the opposite. I could care less how much he's declined, I never wanted to see him retire

If it were Marmol, he would have given up a home run.

Since he has inspired my two user names here (KKvs.G doesn't count!) I guess I have to say that I do possess this love towards Kerry Wood.

Would not want to see his number retired as a Cub. What is that? Wood at his best was awesome, yes, but just no to that.

The best part is that Vance looks like Sly Stallone's kid in "Over the Top."

I think it's Aramis Fan who posted a link to a file share of the original broadcast to the Game 7 HR. Does anyone happen to have that clip? My copy of it died with the computer I was using at the time.
