Our dumb bunts are making them make dumb plays. Whatever I guess.

That's the problem. The [expletive] meatballs, and the buffoonish clowns of the media are going to use those errors as proof that bunting works.

This is an organization that provides every player with detailed scouting packets before every game.

If they didn't like all the bunting, Sveum would know about it.

So Dale is going rogue.

If it makes you guys feel better re: the front office and bunts...

Sacrifice bunts:

Boston

2011: 30/30 teams

2010: 29/30 teams

San Diego:

2011: 16/30 teams (but 16/16 in the NL)

2010: OK well San Diego finished 2nd in the majors but I think Hoyers footprint was only really beginning to be felt last year

Dolis with the rare strikeout.

Something has to be wrong with your numbers. There's no way every team with a DH had more SH than the 16 without one.

I think you are confused...other way around. Every team except for 1 (KC) above SD is an NL team. San Diego had the least number of sacrifice bunts in the NL. Every team below them was an AL team.

Edit: Wait I counted wrong. San Diego was 16th/30 but 15/16 in the NL. Arizona was behind them. Sorry about that, but I still think you had it backwards.

in san diego i can understand it because they have generally had good pitching and bad hitting the last few years, and they play in a cavernous ballpark, so a lot of their games are close and low-scoring. when the heart of your lineup features the likes of chase headley, orlando hudson and scott hairston, manufacturing runs might be necessary.
