I wish I could somehow leverage into monetary gain the disconnect between the Giants being co-WS favorites with us and how good the Giants actually are. Let me be the house on that bet, pretty please.

AND they're likely to sign Cespedis

I have no idea what this has to do with what I posted.

I guess people really buy into the whole "every other year" thing.

Meatballs are going to think the Giants will win the WS again because of it being an even year and then also signing a small handful of expensive free agents, basically.

i think it's mostly just wacky gamblers betting on the even numbered thing the same way they care about what the roulette wheel has spun the last 10 times for some reason

With Glasnow,Taillon and Bell likely to join their roster anywhere from opening day to the trade deadline, this seems like a foolish thought.

Deciding to wait on those guys and see how they contribute rather than devote resources to filling the glaring MLB holes that they'll, at varying points, attempt to fill with those guys is exactly where the "semi-punt" part comes in. At least, that's where I think he was going.

I just don't like it because I think they're 2 moves from a top 3 team in the NL. They're like one Kazmir away from a very good rotation of Cole/Liriano/Kazmir/Glasnow/Niese and offense of

1B:Bell

2B:Kang

SS:Mercer

3B:Harrison

C:Cervelli

RF:Polanco

CF:McCutchen

LF:Marte

that's a SS or 3B away from a 90-95 win team.

Ryan Howard, Ryan Zimmerman and Taylor Teagarden are among the athletes named as allegedly having received banned PEDs in an undercover news documentary from Al Jazeera television airing later today at 8pm central time. Travis Waldron and Ryan Grim of the Huffington Post have detailed some of the documentary’s major news points after watching an advance copy.

These are some terrible [expletive] steroids they're using (unless they're just using hgh which doesn't really do [expletive]).

Come up with some undetectable [expletive] that will bring back the 10 year primes and 35 year old dongsmiths please

Everyone is denying it, even the source who gave Al Jazeera that information. Apparently the source said he gave the reporter a bunch of names he's never worked with just to test his integrity and skills as a reporter to follow up and fact check and he apparently just took the info and ran with it.

Ehhh. Not saying everything is 100% accurate, but I read there is actual video of Teagarden openly admitting to what the guy said.

"Ha. Tricked you. I just said all of those names to check your integrity and follow up skills!" seems likes a lame excuse you'd come up with after being busted.

I have heard good stuff about Al Jazeera. Seems odd that they would stick with this story if their only source had recanted. Makes me think they have something else.

I agree, but if you're cooperating with Al Jazeera in the first place to help break a story open, why would you recant the info you gave them? It seems odd, and if he is telling the truth then it sounds like he did in fact have info to give but the guy never came back for the whole story which is just sloppy.

So who knows. Maybe he got cold feet and denied it, but the guy also apparently wasn't even employed at the clinic in question when the report indicates, and only interned at the place for 3 months in 2013.

Dave Henderson died. THe headline on ESPN said "Henderson, member of 1989 champion A's, dies", and I about lost my [expletive]. Not that Dave Henderson dying isn't sad enough, but that's a shitty way for ESPN to title that story.

How else is anyone going to know who he is?

They can not imply that it was Ricky for a start

The guy who interned at the place for 3 months is the guy who recanted the Manning thing (and some other names I think).

But the guy who went undercover with Al Jazeera and interviewed the guy above plus other guys hasn't recanted anything (they are different people). Based on the Manning guys recanted excuse I think he just might have tried to sound like a bigshot and heard Peyton went there once.

Sounds like MLB will allow for single team purchases, potentially single game, for MLBTV this year. I probably will still get the whole regular MLBTV package just because I like watching a lot of baseball, but this is a nice option. Will be interesting to see the costs.

whereas I couldn't give two poops about other teams and would gladly do the "Cubs only" package
