Jeff Sullivan wrote a really stupid article for fangraphs.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/let-us-address-the-angels-super-hypothetical/

and of course I just had to click on it.

should this stupid thing happen? no.

maybe the way it's originally framed is stupid (in asking "should they do this"), but all he's really doing is saying mike trout is so amazing and his contract is so amazing that it totally makes up for two awful contracts in hamilton and pujols, which is actually sort of amazing. i mean it's obvious that trout is awesome but those two contracts are disastrous already and he still manages to more than make up for them.

But everybody who knows anything about baseball knows that guys in their first six years subsidize the established veterans. That wasn't an amazing discovery.

Well, it isn't exactly just his first six years since he signed an extension (an ill-advised one, IMO). Obviously salary is mitigated by the leverage in that situation but it's not quite the same thing.

Carmen Sucart, wife of A-Rod's cousin Yuri, says a few years back, Rodriguez once came to the Sucarts' house (that A-Rod gave to them) and threatened them to keep their mouths shut about his performance-enhancing drug use. Then, he peed on the floor as a message.

My first reaction is that if the price of someone giving me a free house is that I have to pull out a mop one time and keep my mouth shut about him using drugs, count me in.

Pedro Grifol's name has surfaced for possible interview for Rays managerial job

I don't understand Twitter, nor do I want to, so somebody else will have to post the tweets, but apparently Ryan Theriot posted some stupid stuff about how moneyball doesn't work in baseball and GMs should have to be former players.

EDIT: I found it on twitter. The best part is Brandon McCarthey trolling him, along with a bunch of other people

While I'll admit that I didn't follow baseball too closely this year, this is the first time a player won ROY who I literally had never heard of before today

You've never heard of Jose Abreu? Jesus he made the all star team and everything.

We couldn't have used him because neither he nor Rizzo could have handled LF, or something.

It seems to me that you could make life easier and (more importantly to MLB) increase viewership for at least four teams if MLB swapped SEA and COL.

Pros:

1. SEA decreases travel distances for roughly 18 road games (HOU/TEX becomes SD/AZ).

2. SEA now has all divisional road games start at 7:00 PT.

3. HOU/TEX move roughly 9 games from PT to MT.

4. COL move roughly 18 games from PT to CT. This could be debated as a con, but I think most working people would rather their teams games start at 6:00 locally as opposed to 8:00.

5. LAD/SD/SF/AZ move roughly 9 road games from MT to PT.

Cons

1. OAK/LAA move roughly 9 games from PT to MT. So those games would often a start at 6:00 locally.

From a pure travel standpoint you could also swap AZ/SEA.

Reports coming out that Oscar Taveras' BAC might've been 5 times the legal limit when he died.

Guess IMB can add him to his graphic
