Meathead or not, I wish we had a Brian McCann. [expletive] Carlos Gomez.

Well yeah, I'd like to have Carlos Gomez on the Cubs as well. But what he did was still bat [expletive] crazy.

I despise the Yankees, but the moment when Rivera was taken out of the game tonight was pretty freaking awesome. One of the best scenes on a baseball diamond I can remember seeing.

agreed. yankees did the send-off perfectly (well, besides having him close out a world series game). i always admired the way he went about things - seemed like nobody ever had a bad word to say about him. even red sox fans, who hate everyone associated with the yankees, seemed to have a lot of respect for him.

leaving out his rookie year, when he was mostly a starter, he had 11 seasons with an ERA under 2.00 and only 7 over 2.00. as a reliever, batters hit .207/.257/.284/.541 against him. pretty damn good.

He should be a unanimous first-ballot HoFer, but some dick writer will keep him off just to be "that guy"

So should lots of guys. I'm not going to shed a tear for a guy who pitches 70 innings a season getting 94% while guys like Jeff bagwell can't even get it for no apparent reason

Room got a bit dusty all of the sudden as I watched that.

Jeffrey Loria has fired Prez of Baseball Ops Larry Beinfest. #marlins

Isn't he the guy basically responsible for getting them their good, young talent?

Posted
Yes, Beinfest is good, he's been the GM since 2002.

lol "fired." what a shame for Beinfest!

It goes without saying, but Jeffrey Loria is a despicable piece of [expletive] [expletive].

No doubt he is trying to deflect blame for buttfucking the Miami fans and taxpayers on to Beinfest.

On the plus side, Beinfest can go find a new job where his boss isn't satan.

I don't understand why Freeman was ejected, and McCann wasn't. McCann did far more to instigate that brawl than Freeman.

Throwing an elbow into ARam's face

Oh well yeah, I definitely missed that.

Isn't Binfest his son in law? Or is that Samson?

It's that time of year again to root for tiebreaker scenarios.

Tampa Bay and Cleveland are tied for the two WC spots, with Texas a game behind.

If two teams end up tied for the last spot, then there's a tiebreaker game to get in to the Wild Card play-in game.

If it's a three-way tie for two spots, then you get:

Day 1: A and B play, winner gets into the WC game

Day 2: Loser of Day 1 and C play, winner gets into WC game

Day 3: WC game

That's Samson, stepson, actually, ex-stepson I believe, which is just...weird.

He's on the outs now as well I believe.

Hopefully this means Loria is descending into madness and will soon become a Howard Hughes type, only more dead.
