If that happens it would be far from wide open. It would actually be a pretty clear title game of Ohio State-Florida State. Ohio State has to get through the michigans and FSU has to win in gainesville. Either could happen but probably not both. There will be at least a 1 loss team in the bsc title game. FSU is getting too much love. How do you figure?

I dunno why Girardi has this reputation of working in young players. With the Marlins, he had no choice. That's all they had. With the Yankees, young players constantly rode the bench & barring some injury to the veteran blocking them, they stayed on the bench. Dellin Betances is one of their top relief prospects & since being called up September 1st, he pitched 5 innings, most of which was when they were already eliminated from the playoffs 4 weeks after being called up. No thanks to Girardi.

There is one example & he is retiring at the end of the year. Since BP arms are so up and down, I've always been a proponent of building the pen from within. Whether through developing short inning relievers or converting fringe starters into late inning BP arms, it's better than overpaying on the market for one.

Noles are savaging Nevada. 48-7 They started out sluggish and couldn't stop the run but it's been a massacre ever since. Jameis Winston continues to QB like a stud. Been a big fan of him since his recruitment. Go Noles!

Also, I should have been more clear. If you can get CarGo for a package that doesn't make everyone feel like they spent a night in Oz...then go for it. I just don't want to see them give up too much for him. Since he's really good & signed to a good deal, unfortunately that's what it will take to get him.

I know that Gonzalez is good, I never said that he wasn't. I also didn't say they should or shouldn't be punting anything away.

Or we could just trade for him and also acquire other players. Who? Cano will cost a fortune & Ellsbury will get way more than he should. Those are the only real impact offensive players that are going to be Free Agents. //edit I forgot about Brian McCann Choo, I guess would be a good get depending on the kind of deal he's looking for. So the only other option would be to pillage the farm system in order to acquire major difference makers. Doesn't seem worth it to me. I'm not saying they shouldn't acquire players or even dumpster dive for retreads just for the record.

They aren't one player away from being playoff contenders so trading away a package like that for Carlos Gonzalez doesn't make any sense.
