Now if there's a problem with his daughter that he needs to be in Chicago or LA for then I understand this but say it.

Totally reasonable.

If he needs to be in Chicago or LA for his daughter then he needs to come out and say this and everyone will respect his decision but this doesn't seem to be the case. It seems to me he's holding a grudge against the Braves for leaking that deal before he approved it.

My guess is that he thought he wanted to go to a contender, but then when he realized what kind of pressure he'd be under he froze up and is now hoping to torpedo any deal so he doesn't have to face the pressure of playing for a winning team.

The Angels are reportedly looking for pitching. White Sox too, though they don't have anything of use.

when did he play for fredi? must have been in the minors

Was Fredi with the Marlins when Dempster was?

Yes Fredi was there from 1999 to 2001. He was there from 1998 to 2002.

He literally shrank a few inches.

Your guess is super stupid.

Allen Webster, RHP, Dodgers (Double-A Chattanooga)

It's been a strange season for Webster. He entered the year as one of the best pitching prospects in the system, but not without some concerns, as he had a rough go of it during the second half of the season at Double-A. On the surface, he's struggling again, with a season line that includes a 4.06 ERA and more than a hit per inning, but in reality, there have been three parts to his year. After putting up a 7.49 ERA in his first seven starts, Webster spent three weeks in the bullpen trying to straighten things out. Since his return to the rotation, he's put up a 2.11 ERA in nine starts, including a season-high 10 strikeouts over six innings on Friday. What was going wrong is a bit of a mystery, as Webster has always had the stuff for things to go right: a heavy 93-95 mph fastball, an easy plus changeup, and a decent slider.

I don't have anything against what Dempster is doing. I'm not happy the Cubs aren't getting Delgado but he has the right to veto the Braves trade if he wants. He's playing inside the rules so how can you fault him for that. None of us have ever talked with Dempster about the situation so who are we to judge? Granted, this may be too much common sense for most people on this board but it is what it is...deal with it.

Who is "everyone" in this scenario? A bunch of fans he owes nothing to?

It's been speculated he liked playing for Fredi, which is why Atlanta was high on his list. Who knows?

from what i can tell, fredi gonzalez was his manager for 12 starts in 1997-98 and then dempster played on the marlins when gonzalez was the third base coach. that hardly seems like a situation that would lead to them being BFFs.

I don't remember posting in this thread for quite a while, actually, so I don't think so. It was Kyle, I was just assuming he was being stupid again.

this is like the 837th post that is ignoring that fact that dempster indicated to the cubs that he was willing to go to atlanta.
