I felt it was kind of a mixed bag. Found some things very encouraging. More velo than I expected and nice movement.

Not a smart person, but same thoughts. He was struggling with consistency, but you can see why there's so much upside there and he's at least a serviceable BOR guy on the downside.

Someone please let Sveum that Russell was very good as a reliever last year and that his overall numbers don't look that great because he was a disaster as a starter.

I'm honestly having fun watching those guys destroy AAA pitching. Obviously, it'll be nice when they get here, but in the meantime the box score watching is nice.

I thought Volstad was fine. Didn't have very consistent command, but he was BABIP-unlucky and wasn't getting any help from the umpiring. If he were to make those pitches all year long and only let a couple hitters really square him up in an outing, then I think we'll be just fine with him in the rotation.
