Yes, but Bertrand is 6'5-6'6", so not a huge difference. I'm not quite sure what it is about him, but I have had the thought several times.

It hasn't always been pretty, but I am satisfied that Illinois has avoided the "bad resume" loss in the early part of the season. From here on out, there is nobody they could lose to who would be viewed as a complete disaster by the tournament committee. I still think they will have some struggles in the Big 10 schedule, but they have given themselves enough of a cushion to allow for some tough stretches in the Big 10 and still get a decent seed in the tournament.

 

Could you have imagined yourself saying this before they played any games? I'm very pleasantly surprised at how good they've looked so far. The ability to actually score a basket and run an offense is such a big change from the crap they did the last couple of years. They're actually enjoyable to watch most of the time and I no longer think we have the dumbest group of players that has ever been on a court together like I have the last couple years.

Yeah, they're favored in both games against Nebraska and NW, and home games against PSU and Purdue. Very slight underdogs at Purdue and Iowa, and very slight underdogs at home to Wisconsin (who is probably overvalued in KP due to their blowing out everyone who isn't their equal), Minnesota, Michigan and OSU. Heavier underdogs vs IU and at Michigan, OSU, Minnesota, and MSU. So, on average, they win the favored games and split the toss-ups.

I needed an excuse to express how impressed I am by Self's coaching job, but wanted to hedge my bet by mentioning Groce, who I'm equally impressed by. I'm not putting money on this so it doesn't matter, but I was multi-tasking and it was the first thing that popped in my head.
