its like, we all get that it should be legalized and yes, alcohol is legal and therefore marijuana should be by the transitive property or whatever, but i dont think smoking really cured anyone's cancer or made anyone lose weight or whatever other nonsense. it should be legalized but there's not some deep illuminati conspiracy to keep it illegal.

You don't think that the pharmaceutical lobby wants to keep it illegal because of it's easy availability without their involvement/profits? Any hippie can grow marijuana plants.

yeah, but that's not exactly a conspiracy, it's just rich and powerful people trying to stay rich and powerful. smoking weed isn't going to cure your cancer and there's not some shadowy organization determined to let people die of cancer so they can keep selling advil

Yeah, there are numerous perfectly obvious reasons certain parties want to keep it illegal, but they're almost all strictly monetary. Trying to monopolize the pharms market or keep the private prison system brimming with "customers" isn't exactly the darkest depths of conspiracy.

Yeah, I do realize that it's CNN and Sanjay Gupta, but that documentary showed examples of cases similar to what I've read in articles recently. It does seem to have genuine medicinal value in cases of Parkinsons, epilepsy and just general quality of life during chemo.

not just that stuff, but a lot of the people who are loudest about legalization are WAY too into pot. like it's a way of life for them. i'm pretty sure that prohibition would have gone on longer than it did if the prominent voices to undo the 18th amendment were a bunch of fall-down drunks. it's good that the legalization push is becoming more widespread so that there will a broader range of voices than the phish fans and jeff spicoli clones.

Leave the American history to the experts, koala-boy.

Sent my petition of weed into my body and my body thought it good.

smoking weed isn't going to cure your cancer

well, that's not exactly true. it's not not going to cure your cancer

and let's not forget that this is essentially a human rights issue, since we're imprisoning millions of people for these ridiculous laws and spending quite a fortune to do so

just to play devil's advocate, if you suddenly emptied the prisons of petty drug offenders, the unemployment problems would be even more unmanageable than it is now

At the same time, weed farming becomes organized, adding jobs. But yea, I see the problem too.

I co-host a once a week legal advice radio show with another lawyer down here and our topic today was legalization. I think I argued pretty well in favor of legalization. I wasn't really surprised when every caller, including two law enforcement officers, called in supporting legalization. So, if Mississippi is wanting legalization, surely everywhere else is. They said they same thing when they were debating abolishing slavery. I know that is an extreme example but the principle is the same.

That's the worst possible argument for anything ever.

It's not an argument against legalization. Just food for thought

not really, it makes no sense

Let's send people to jail for parking violations. That could help the unemployment rate too.

I was thinking we legalize murder, that'll lower the ole unemployment rate without all the corrections overhead.

This is 100% true among my single in their 30's friends.

Wtf are you talking about. You suggested that the unemployment rate was a consideration for releasing people in prison based on dumb drug sentences.

I read it more of an FYI type thing, not something that should sway your opinion.
