and i was hoping they were actually going to restore that groundskeepers cottage and get the 35 layers of whitish greyish paint off of it but it looks like it's going to stay that way. maybe it always was but it'd look 1000x better as just brick.

That paint is structural now

i think if the metal on the exterior were painted green, it would help a lot.

appears that they didn't bother to retouch the photo - you can see it is in a state of demolition.

I can practically smell the Sbarro wafting up from the restaurant level.

Tunney also said the nearby McDonald's, 3620 N. Clark St., will close in the first quarter of 2016, making way for a hotel that will house the fast food eatery on its first floor when complete.

Sooo no McDonald's next season

A hotel infested with the stench of McDonald's? Yeeeesh.

Seriously, that hotel is going to be a dump. You can't have a freaking fast food restaurant in your lobby.

Yeah, it was already a lock to quickly become a dump with a baseball stadium and [expletive] Wrigleyville right next door; this is just an especially rank cherry on top.

i doubt it'd be in the lobby...probably a retail storefront type deal on clark.

they're not gonna want all the mcdonalds riff raff going through the lobby of the expensive boutique hotel

It will be on the first floor of a building that will not have that large of a footprint. Maybe it won't be directly linked to the hotel, but it will effectively be there.

It will have a street facing main entrance but I would not be surprised if they also an option for hotel guests to go straight in there from the lobby. Lots of hotels with restaurants attached operate that way.

It's still going to leave a massive cloud of greasy air for the guests to live in, regardless of where the entrance is. Also, I think they're using the word "boutique" very liberally here.

I think David is going to end up in a very Howard Hughes-esque situation in that hotel.

Man it takes years to get [expletive] done in Wrigleyville. I had long forgotten about this....had to be proposed originally around 2007.

The triangle building has been discussed since at least 2004 and is finally going up.

Unfortunately, I think it was part of the agreement when they bought the land from whoever owned the McDonald's.

regardless, this is 2015. the "stench" or cloud of greasy air or whatever the hell in the hotel is not going to be an actual thing.
