I certainly wouldn't want to give up a 3rd round pick for a 30-something CB unless he's a clear-cut elite defensive back, and I really don't think Samuel is anything like that anymore.

Yeah, the age makes me less excited about the deal, but are corners really that likely to drop off considerably in their early 30s? My biggest concern is that all three of Claiborne/Fitzpatrick/Jenkins will be off the board by the time the Titans are on the clock, leaving us with Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner as our top 2 corners this year (and a middle of the road FA signing we'd likely make).

Maybe I'm being swayed by need too much, but a third rounder for a guy who just turned 31 doesn't seem like a bad deal at all. Unless he's already started showing signs of decline, which I guess is what I'm asking.

After RBs, yes, I'd say corners are the most likely to drop off in their early 30's. It's a straight up athleticism position where a step is all it takes.

Coin tosses to determine who gets the first possession are not a problem. Coin tosses to determine who gets the critical possession in a sudden death situation are. Either give both teams a shot or scrap the sudden death aspect of it.

There is no one critical possession, any possession is critical in sudden death. And they are not guaranteed by any means to win on that opening possession. Both teams do get a shot, unless you give up a touchdown. Starting OT on defense doesn't = not having a shot.

Yep, it's not as simple as just giving each team an offensive possession.

Exactly. That kid isn't pissed he got to do some fuckin. The girl is pretty hot too. I hope at the trial they give him the gold "luckiest boy in class" star sticker. I wish some hot chick "molested" me when I was 16.

As far as Asante Samuel, FO has him right with Revis over the past 2-3 years. In a zone scheme he's the guy you want.

Yes, but you want him 2-3 years ago when he was 2-3 years younger. He has a big contract, he has a bad attitude, a 3rd round pick is more valuable than he is right now based on salary and future potential.

No, over the past 2-3 years. He was arguably the best CB in the NFL last year.

Samuels' game is based around baiting QBs, which he's only gotten better at since he was a lad. Eli Manning has actually said he avoids throwing in his direction just because he's so good at forcing you to make the throw he wants you to make. Decline might be a-coming because he's geting older, but he's shown 0 signs of it in his performance.

Not surprised to see a smart franchise like the Titans linked.....

Hey Lions players, stop driving around with weed in your car. Also, don't eat it if you get stopped.

as bad as these are, they're still a dramatic improvement over the old ones.

"I assume everybody thinks they're a top-five quarterback," Flacco said when asked where he thinks he ranks among NFL quarterbacks. "I mean, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'm top five, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'd be very successful at my job if I didn't feel that way. I mean, c'mon? That's not really too tough of a question."

Greg Williams was captured on audio before the last game against the 49ers by a guy doing a documentary on Steve Gleason...

“At one point Williams says, ‘We hit [expletive] Smith right there’ – then he points under his chin [and continues] – ‘remember me.’ Then he rubs his thumb against his index and middle fingers – the cash sign – and says, ‘I got the first one. I got the first one. Go get it. Go lay that [expletive] out,’” Pamphilon told Silver.

Williams has long loved the phrase, “Kill the head and the body will die,” and he used that phrase in talking to his players. He also specifically told them to go for the head of 49ers running back Frank Gore.

“We’ve got to do everything in the world to make sure we kill Frank Gore’s head,” Williams told his players. “We want him running sideways. We want his head sideways.”

Williams also talked about trying to inflict a knee injury on 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree and referenced 49ers receiver Kyle Williams, who has had multiple concussions.

“We need to find out in the first two series of the game, the little wide receiver, No. 10, about his concussion,” Gregg Williams told his players about Kyle Williams. “We need to [expletive] put a lick on him, move him to decide. He needs to decide.”

Kind of reminds me of what goes on in Eugene, actually.

It will be pretty tough to justify hiring him again. He's the sacrificial lamb to a degree, but it's pretty over the top language and now it's laid bare to every person who didn't realize that the NFL is a modern-day bloodsport.
