Walter's latest mock has us taking Wright in the 1st, Dwayne Allen in the 2nd, Brandon Washington and Cam Jonhnson in the 3rd and Shaun Prater in the 4th. I know some guys will bitch about Wright and Allen because of their slow 40's, but I would love this exact draft for us. If we could replace Wright with Floyd, it'd be perfect, in my opinion.

I think Martz would love Kendall Wright. That's going to be a tough pick at 19 if Floyd isn't there. I know the Bears really want a big WR. I like Wright a lot though, and he'd be tough to pass up in that situation. I don't really care for the TE in the 2nd round. I think the TE position has been a little overblown. The Bears aren't going to find a Grontkowski or Jimmy Graham in this draft, talent-wise. But I think the combination of actually using the TEs in pass routes, getting better WRs on the outside, and bringing in a mid-round talent would be enough to make the position an asset for Cutler. I don't want to see a huge investment in the TE position, just to "keep up with the Joneses".

I've seen Allen play quite a bit. I really like him. No, he doesn't have elite speed, but he'd be a helluva red zone target for us. He goes up and gets it. Great hands, decent blocker. He's a matchup problem for either LB's or CB's because of his jumping ability and his strength. I think he's a future Pro Bowler and if he slides to us in the 2nd, while I agree TE isn't all that pressing of a need, since we could just go sign Carlson or someone, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on Allen.

Just saw an updated mock draft that has the Bears trading their first round pick and their original third round pick to move up to the #13 overall pick (Seattle) to take Floyd.

Yes please

That would suck.

if we're trading up it better be to take matt kalil.

I don't actually want the bears to trade up for Floyd, I just want them to draft him.

Good. Now maybe he can find a job at the front gate

Why? So even people without tickets can get in?

6.2

excellent concept, lackluster execution

That's always been my problem. I come up with good concepts, but have a difficult time following through with them. I'll take the 6.2, though!

I'm sort of torn on the franchise tag for Forte. If you were going to sign him long term, wouldn't you just do it now and get one year of high money out of the way? He's going to want the same amount of years still, right?

franchise him this year...then if he's really good again next year, franchise him another year and then let somebody else overpay a high mileage back

But isn't 2 years of a franchise basically the same as a 5 year deal with only the signing bonus guaranteed? Get 3, maybe 4, good years out of him and then cut him loose.

pretty sure he wanted a significantly more guaranteed than that... plus there's no guarantee whatsoever that he's actually good enough next year to justify the second tagging

forte is not really that good.

lol

according to dvoa and dyar, he's not even top 30. i think he's like 36 and 40 respectively. that doesn't adjust for run blocking, but that can't account for such terrible rankings.

forte is replaceable.

I actually agree with that, problem is with who? Mike Tolbert and Michael Bush?

I think run blocking can account for how bad those rankings are somewhat. But I do agree Forte is replaceable. But he's no more replaceable than any other RB in the league. As good as they are, the Vikings, Jags, and Titans aren't any better off because they have Peterson, MJD, and Chris Johnson. The Texans lost Arian Foster a couple times last year and their backup came in and didn't miss a beat. Bears didn't really suffer much at RB when Forte went out, either. They lost games due to the loss of Cutler.

yeah, running backs in general are replaceable unless you get a truly special back like AP or barry sanders. i really like lesean mccoy, too, you can actually see the value he adds on the field in the way he runs.

i don't like drafting them high or signing them to huge contracts. it's an incredible waste of money.
