Guy at the Down On The Farm Q&A just got booed/shouted down by the crowd. There's always someone who likes hearing himself talk when they get a microphone

Geez, I can't believe how much grief the Cubs are getting over the bleachers. It's a major renovation...timelines are basically wishful thinking.

I'm just happy it's all happening.

You can't believe they are getting grief for this?

Yeah, when has something like this happened elsewhere? I can think of teams having parts of their stadiums closed down for work during a season, but weren't those announced as such? The Cubs have been talking all along like the construction wouldn't impact things during the season.

The Athletics used to routinely tarp over huge sections of their seating - and still might for all I know - but it's the Athletics so nobody attends those games anyway.

They do that because the stadium holds 65000 people, they want to lower capacity. It has nothing to do with construction.

- Some lady asked about more kid-friendly amenities at the park, specifically 'What do I tell people who say their kids had more fun at US Cellular?' Ricketts' first response: 'I don't think there's THAT many kids having fun at US Cellular'

Oh yay...can't wait to hear about the Sox's response at their fan fest next weekend b/c you know they love to pander to their meatball fan base. Let me guess, something original like 100+ years and counting?

I don't know if it's fair to complain about a team catering to their meatball fanbase in a thread about the Cubs Convention.

It was far less meatbally than I anticipated

The Sheraton is just too small. Every aspect of the facility was overmatched, though the staff was very friendly. Not sure about the square footage comparison, but the Hilton/Towers felt much roomier.

Can't imagine what they could do in the interim until the Wrigley Sheraton is ready.

I agree, the questions asked were actually pretty good all weekend.

That's going to be a boutique hotel. Can't imagine they'd do it there.

You can't believe that people are mocking them for the first step in a rehab that is already 3 years delayed, is being delayed?

Hopefully Crane is underpromising and overdelivering on the bleacher construction timeline since it's a joke if it takes until late May.

It's supposed to be warmer than normal from here on out.

It's not the weather. They've been working through the worst of conditions, including the week that highs were in the low single digits.

It was the city's delays with moving the water (iirc) lines because what they found when they dug up was older than they anticipated.

That I'm guessing, even though they won't say this, and they probably delayed it so they could make their changes to the plans.

The water lines was a month tops, this is a 2 month delay.

This is all kinds of awesome.

Always imagined it would be used in conjunction with the new ballpark facilities. If not, what - something like McCormick Place? That seems like overkill.

For anyone who missed the opening ceremonies

There is a pretty sweet hype video that starts at about 36:10. Only stupid part was they had way too much pointless celebrity first pitch/7th inning singer footage.

I think it contractually has to be a Sheraton property
