I'm not even over there yet. That session didn't exactly jump off the page as a must attend event

I think Todd Walker had an even stranger end to his career. First of all he was like an .800 OPS 2B with the Red Sox (although that meant less back then and his defense left a lot to be desired), accepted a backup role with the Cubs, had 2 .820 OPS years then got traded to SD and when his contract expired he just left the game. Granted he was terrible his year in SD but He was worth 2-3 offensive wins per year in 350-400 PAs with the Cubs. I feel like he could have gotten a contract somewhere as a backup or DH, at the very least a spring invite but he just decided he was done.

Who was that really good player for the Pirates who retired in the middle of the season as soon as he got his 10 years in?

also is jacque jones really there? that surprises me

Yes, but he was late

this is so weird to me. jacque had two solid years with the cubs but i never felt like he was particularly loved by fans. do they always bring random weirdos to the convention?

Not only was he not a fan favorite, but he was vocal about the [expletive], racist/racial treatment he got from some fans. I think he later downplayed that, but still, definitely not someone I'd expect to see back.

And it was always a little odd how his career just stopped liked it did. Guess he just completely broke down.

Didn't the Padres do something shady like sign him to a $3-4M deal and then cut him in spring training so they didn't have to pay him?

How's Laura looking?

Edwin Jackson got hardcore booed. I kinda felt bad

thats a shame. i feel like the convention should be a boo-free zone to players.

Yeah, that's a dick-move.

As the previous few posts attest, it is decidedly not screened.

It wasn't really shady. They were allowed to cut him and pay him out 1/6 of his salary. He caught on with the As shortly after that sucked for a month and was released

The dude with 2 written statements?

The dude just rambling about winning into the 2020s and 30s and winning because of the fans or whatever the hell nonsense that was before the moderator was like ok what's your question

The moderator was bush league all around, really put a damper on the Maddon/coaches session. Theo had a funny but vague reference to Kim though.

i don't like it when the cubs screw stuff up and it is embarrassing. meatballs (cubs fans and otherwise) are going to delight in ripping the team for this mess.

on the other hand, i like it when weird things happen and not having bleachers for a month and a half is going to be really weird.

also i am excited for the year the clubhouse renovations happen and are delayed and all the players have to change in the bathroom before and after the games.
