Final AFC West standings:

x-Denver 8-8

Oakland 8-8

San Diego 8-8

Kansas City 7-9

Pretty close to the most mediocre division ever.

SD apparently is eliminated on the "Common opponents" tiebreaker. They are almost certainly the best team in the division.

but all except SD were outscored rather badly over the season. That division is terrible

edit: If they didn't get to play half their games against each other, they'd all be what, 4-12?

Rough NFL draft order for non playoff teams as of right now with two games yet to be decided:

If home teams win:

1. Indianapolis 2-14 (.539)

2. St. Louis 2-14 (.592)

3. Minnesota 3-13

4. Cleveland 4-12 (.531)

5. Tampa Bay 4-12 (553)

6. Washington 5-11 (.476)

7. Jacksonville 5-11 (.500)

8. Miami 6-10 (.504)

9. Carolina 6-10 (.502 - If Arizona wins the SOS will bump them behind Miami)

10. Buffalo 6-10 (.520)

11. Kansas City 7-9 (.512)

12. Seattle 7-9 (.511 - If Seattle loses their SOS probably bumps them behind KC)

13. Dallas 8-8 (.464)

14. Arizona 8-8 (.476)

15. Philadelphia 8-8 (.488)

16. NY Jets 8-8 (.500)

17. Oakland 8-8 (.504)

18. San Diego 8-8 (.516)

19. Chicago 8-8 (.529)

20. Tennessee 9-7

Yes, Bears fans, that win cost them 6 spots in the draft order today.

EDIT: Arizona won, so the Arizona/Seattle spots are right. If Dallas wins tonight, NY Giants get the 18th pick and Arizona-San Diego get bumped up one. Bears still draft 19th.

Remember when a bunch of Bear fans said Stafford wasn't that good?

Oops.

Remember when you used to update Tebow's record after every game?

Remember when you thought Tebow was good?

He looked bad in the 2 games against the Bears. He was really inaccurate and looked to be regressing after a great start. I don't think anyone labeled him as bad, just that he was playing bad and may not have been as good as people were making him out to be based on his start. Clearly he's pretty good.

PS Lions/Saints is going to be entertaining as hell. Probably a bad matchup for NO because Detroit can obviously hang with them in a shootout type game. Detroit's defense is probably better than NO's (right), but playing in the Superdome makes it tough for Detroit.

I wanted the Packers to avoid the Giants and Saints and it's looking a little more likely that those would be the teams they'd have to go through.

Oh well, it's not like they can't beat either of them.

he had a 107.7 rating in the first game (and a broken finger throwing in a stiff wind the second game)

I specifically knew you were going to point that out. My observation was that he was glaringly inaccurate on several passes in that game. Looking at the stats, he was 19-26, so my eyes might have deceived me, but I know for a fact he missed wide open receivers a couple of times keeping the Bears in the game. It left me with the impression that he wasn't as good as his numbers showed. Then the second game, finger or not, he was really off.

Obviously my observations, which I also heard occasionally from certain "analysts" at the time, were off as he's a very good QB.

buh-bye Cowboys

It seems like a lot of hoop-la for a team that finished the same as the neutered Bears, out of the playoffs, really a non-factor once again.

What is really worth talikng about with this Cowboys team? Romo? He's pretty much a confirmed non-elite QB at this point. He fails when the load is put upon *him*. Unless Tony Romo has legitimate self-contained weapons at his disposal, he's not lifting anyone to greater heights.

This is a mediocre team with a high media profile. Nothing substantial separates them from the other also-rans. I'm kind of sick of hearing about them all the time, and frankly, I'm glad they have been dispatched from the season's festivities. buh-bye Cowboys, have fun on the golf courses (and sorry, Vance).

And the Bengals are in the playoffs at 9-7 and 0-4 against the Steelers and Ravens.

Funny thing is, they probably have an ok shot at winning against the Texans.

Bengals vs. Texans in the wild card round...who predicted that before the season started?

that has to be one of the worst playoff games ever.

SAYS YOU

GO BENGALS

I have no problem with "new blood" being represented in early playoff rounds. Go TEXANS! I want to see if they can take the next step.

we don't need to talk about the patriots game the week after

I'm rooting for the Bengals. When was the last year they won a playoff game again? I know yet lost in 05 and 09 and hadnt made in for a long time before that.

oh i don't care that either team made it, but the bengals didn't beat anybody good all year and houston is missing their starting qb, top pass rusher and their star wr is a cripple.

Well, they did beat Tennessee, which ended up being the only one that really mattered in the grand scheme of things.

Prediction time.

Saints 38 Lions 35

Falcons 24 Giants 18

Bengals 17 Texans 13 (ah what the hell)

Steelers 28 Broncos 10

Saints 30 49ers 22

Packers 41 Falcons 21

Patriots 35 Bengals 21

Steelers 20 Ravens 17

Saints 37 Packers 31 (OT) (did u think I'd let packers get to sb?)

Steelers 36 Patriots 33

Saints 27 Steelers 21

So yeah hope everyone's ready for a Packers Ravens SB basically

i have a hard time assessing a team that lost to the colts and jaguars as a "good team"
