“It’s just not me,’’ Rose said. “I can’t be anyone else. I can dance, but there’s just a time and place for it.’’

And now we know that time and place: first career NBA buzzer beater.

Is it really his first ever?

Ya know, the first 47:45 matters too guys.

I think the days of being a consistantly efficient scorer (relative to the absolute elite of the NBA) are over for Rose now that he shoots 5 more 3s a game than he did in his second year when he seemed like DWade 2.0 without the extra free throws. I dont care, he played a good game last night regardless of the fg%. If prime kobe can get finals MVP going 6-30 in a game 7 at home, then Derrick can go 8-22 almost triple double and hit a buzzer beater on the road against a good defence.

I think I heard last night that it was his 3rd game winning basket in the last 5 seconds of the game?

Buzzer beaters are dumb. You should get the shot up with just enough time to get a put back. See Kobe's ability to miss a game winner bad enough and with enough tick for artest and gasol to get it back up in the 2010 playoffs.

Yeah, he had two others where the other team had some time to get a shot off. This is the first one that left no time for an answer.

I don't see a problem with a buzzer beater when the worst case scenario is having an additional 5 minutes to win.

Man, those Bucks announcers are full of sour grapes about Rose, though.

He had one vs Houston that tied it but this is the first game winner I believe.

If you count buzzer beaters for the tie he had the buzzer beater off balance 3 to send the game to OT against the Rockets last year.

I still watch that from time to time.

It's possible that the situation also might dictate when it is ok to shoot. In a tie game, if you leave enough time when you shoot, theres a chance the opponent can get the rebound and call a timeout and get the ball at halfcourt with whatever time is left. If you shoot it with no time left, the worst you are risking is OT if the ball doesn't go in.

However, if you are down 1, it doesn't matter if the opponent rebounds it, and if anything you can still foul them and possibly still have a shot. You are already going to likely lose if they get the rebound, so its ok to leave enough time for a tip in.

Or maybe I am way overthinking it...

When losing I want to get a good shot as quickly as possible so if it doesn't go in there is a chance. Tie game you take the last shot with as little time remaining as possible.

Especially at a home game, like last night.

And if anything, that is much higher pressure and way cooler.

Asked if he's been walking around Chicago imagining what it might be like to be in the Windy City permanently, Howard offered a playful, but perhaps telling, answer.

"Nah, it's pretty cold here," Howard said.

When another reporter broke in and said Chicago has had "a somewhat mild winter," Howard said, "Well, it was cool yesterday. I did get a chance to go out and see the city a little bit. It's a beautiful place. I've been here a couple of times. It's a very nice city."

No chance guys. It's not gonna happen.
