Rumor I saw on another site that supposedly came from RealGM. Take with large grains of salt.

The first rumor, says that Orlando is offering Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu to the Bulls for Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Omer Asik, and Kyle Korver.

So:

Howard

Boozer

Hedo

BG7

Rose

If we get 'good hedo' thats a prettyy good team.

That would really put Thibs' defensive planning to the test. That's a great defender, a pretty good defender, and three absolutely horrific defenders. If that were the starting lineup, I think Taj would get more minutes than Boozer.

Not that I wouldn't do that deal, but who's our backup center after that trade?

Hedo by default.

FWIW the NBA Trade Machine says that deal is not doable. It didn't say why, though. The numbers seem close. I tried several variations and couldn't find one it would accept.

Shouldn't somebody point out that Mayo is the 6th man on the 5th seed in the West before they try trading Ronnie Brewer for him?

Well, they have been in discussions to trade him multiple times in the last year (and they almost did it for Josh McRoberts and a 1st rounder), and the thought is that they are going to lose him this summer. So he's definitely a candidate to get traded, but they will have to get something back that can help them beyond this season to be worth it to them.

We dont have anything to give them that would help them beyond this year. Our best bet is to get a guy a bad team wants to just dump because he serves no purpose for them. Like Ben Gordon.

And then you still have to dump Korver and Brewer in the trade along with taking on Gordon's bloated contract for the next 2 years.

I think the Trade Machine thing may not be working. I can't get any deal with any team approved.

The machine thinks you're GM of the Hornets.

Because an interior defender has such a greater defensive impact than a perimeter defender, and Howard being among the best ever, I think the defense will be exceptional. We had good defensive teams with Gordon getting 30+ minutes with Skiles and I suspect we would be as good defensively with the above lineup (with taj off the bench, and addition by korvers subtraction) that we would not materially decline defensively.

That said, adding a great passer and capable scorer like (an ostensibly motivated) Hedo, an extremely efficient scorer in Dwight, and the return of a long range threat and competant penetrator like Gordon and we have probably the most balanced offensive starting 5 in the NBA. Boozer becomes almost a gameplanning afterthought, and as we know he is a very skilled offensive player. It would also be awesome to see what Howard can do if he didnt have Jameer Nelson and three other 3point happy idiots holding him back.

That team would absolutely OWN the glass.

Hamilton wasn’t available for comment after the game, but according to a source familiar with the situation, he left the arena with his right arm in a sling. The same source told CSNChicago.com that Hamilton apparently injured the “top” of his shoulder and at least early on—he’ll be examined Tuesday—there’s little optimism about a quick return.

If the Bulls dont find a way to get past the Heat this year, this team will be blown up in order to secure a solid #2 option. That is my belief. One of Noah or Deng will go.

How in the world is trading Noah or Deng "blowing up" the team?

I said that the team will be blown up + one of deng/noah would go.

Looking at the trade scenarios, we'd have to part with 3-4 guys at least. The only untouchable on this team is Rose and as much as I love Deng, I'd rather have Howard.

That's not blowing up the team.

Oh what is the official definition of 'blowing up the team'?

Trading 2-3 starters plus some of our best bench depth to me is a radical but needed change worthy of using the phrase 'blowing up the team.'

I'm still not sure if I want to trade Deng from this team for Howard. I think that trade pretty much ends their title hopes this year though it would likely strengthen their chances for a dynasty type run.

Reasons I have a hard time doing it though is this teams depth, Deng and Noah make are the glue of the defense and I think team chemistry does matter in basketball and I don't like risking ruining the Bulls' when they already have the best record in the league.

Think about the times you've heard the phrase used around this board: it's used in regards to effectively scrapping a hopelessly flawed team and starting over. The Bulls are nowhere near that kind of team. One of their key strengths is how deep their team is, so an advantage they have if they make a blockbuster deal like the ones being proposed is that it's NOT "blowing up the team," especially given the players ideally coming back. I have no idea why you keep using that term like the team needs to be overhauled, or seemingly like they'd be getting nothing back and they'd be dangerously depleted.

That was a solid 9.6. Very nice.

Id much rather see deng go than Noah. Noah gets you some scoring, great passing, great rebounding, and good d. Deng does most things pretty well but at the 3, is much more easily replaced than getting a solid 5, which is nearly impossible. The only Noah deal id look at right now is for Howard. Deng can be included, because I believe Deng offense (especially his failrly poor offensive production this year) can be replaced rather easily, and the loss of his defensive contributions can be mitigated by the contribution of defense over Noah with the addition of the best defensive force in the league.

I don't know who's out there that I would consider trading either for aside from Howard.

If OKC makes the determination that Harden is worth more in a trade than on the team, then I would trade either and possibly both.

I highly doubt they will. At least this year. He's definitely all star caliber. Maybe next season when it becomes time to consider extensions they will entertain that, because he probably deserves a near max deal.

Him and rose is the best backcourt I can think of in a long long time.

You'd entertain trading Deng and Noah for James Harden?

I think hes better value than either, obviously. And you cant trade both for him anyway, salaries would have to align. The post is more of a reflection of how much i value the potential of Harden to be an all nba type than an actual "lets trade deng and noah for harden".

But yea, Id probably rather have Harden then both of those guys.
