lol keep your pants on boys, you're embarrassing yourselves. the heat lost to the bucks ffs. this loss means nothing.

Pointing out that the effort was really poor tonight is not embarrassing themselves.

overreacting and taking this as some sort of statement game is pretty embarrassing. the bulls were the second-best team in the east last season and improved in experience and talent-level this season. in a shortened, compressed season, this team's two biggest priorities are: get to the playoffs healthy, beat the heat. unless we're seriously suggesting that losing to the [expletive] sixers before the all-star break is some sort of harbinger of playoff doom, which is pretty silly, then the unmeasured reactions to tonight's loss are a little embarrassing. unless you don't value patience, maturity, or perspective. then yeah, perfectly appropriate.

This is stupid, meaningless hand waving.

don't take it personal fella. jumping to the conclusion that a bulls team that is at worst the second-best team in the league, while missing two of its most important players, should be trembling at the thought of drawing the overachieving philly team in the playoffs is laughable.

We were the over achieving team last year. We aren't entitled to being an elite team again.

The Boozer sucking thing, which is what I'm mainly concerned with, is more trend than one worrisome game.

over-achieving in what way? the 2010-2011 bulls had the best defense in the league and overcame their lack of offensive potency by having superior depth. the 2011-2012 bulls defense is still arguably the best in the league (despite having probably their best defender miss significant time already), while seeing a decline in boozer yet still managing to hang pretty close to where they were last year with scoring efficiency and ppg. again, because of depth.

if boozer doesn't get back up to speed and we can't mitigate his supposed descent towards terribleness, then yeah, this team might have some difficulties. but at this point, until rip and lu are back in the lineup, i find it hard to get my worry warts inflamed based on what i've seen so far.

There's quite a bit of difference between treating it as a statement game and just saying that the Sixers will be a tough matchup/tough out for the Bulls. Which they will be-they're young, they're talented, and they are the type of team who seems to give the Bulls trouble (this is also their 3rd straight win over Chicago dating back to last year). They've had a really easy schedule with the home games and bad teams, but they also have the best point differential in basketball. Is Chicago better? Almost certainly yes, but it would still be a tough series.

Barring a catastrophe though where Chicago slips to the 5th seed, Philly would be a 2nd round opponent. And in the East this year, you're just not likely to draw an easy 2nd round opponent.

oh absolutely. my worry with the pacers and the sixers of the world is not that they'll take the bulls out in the playoffs (though, it certainly isn't completely out of the question given the way those two teams have played thus far), but that they'll force the bulls to grind through a grueling 7-game series. the east is real tough right now. and even though the balance of power seems to lean towards heat/bulls as the upper-most tier, that second tier of atlanta/indiana/philly is pretty scary. good to great basketball being played night in, night out by five teams in the east.

Show me quotes where anyone in this thread called it a statement game. You can be disappointed in the effort and results of an individual game and still remain unchanged in your belief in the team. I think you are too quick to pull the 'everyone's being ridiculous' card.

We just need to get back full strength (or as close as we can get with nagging injuries) and put our run together.

We'll be fine. Obviously disappointing to lose last night, but like someone else mentioned -- the Heat lost to the Bucks, too.

I'm enjoying the East being good. I'm actually thinking about buying the NBA package for the first time in years.

It's unreal how bad Boozer has been lately. Not only does he have a 3 inch vertical, anytime he goes for a layup it's either a charge or a badly blocked shot. His mid-range game is too inconsistent to be counted on.

Not for a second do I believe the Bulls will be able to trade for Howard but, if one looks at the Bulls, Lakers and Nets. The Bulls may have the best to offer, the Bobcats pick, it's lottery protected until 2014 I read. So should the Magic get that pick they could roll the dice and end up with a lottery pick in 2014, in addition to the other picks and players they'll get from Bulls. I've got to think if Howard is dead set against re-upping with the Magic and the Magic are looking to come away with something offering a chance to improve the Bulls are the best trading partner.

If a miracle does occur and Howard becomes a Bull what's the Heat going to do put James on Howard instead of Rose?

I'd like to see Butler spell Deng when Deng's healthy enough to play again. Even if it's just for a few minutes, it would greatly cut back on Deng's workload for the rest of the way.

Was that Richard Gere? And if so, how many years has he aged in the last 15?

That was Richard Gere. I believe I saw Adam Sandler, Spike Lee and Bobby Bacala as well.

shaq is loathsome on tnt

I thought he was going to be pretty good when they announced he would be on the set. Whoops.

He seems to try to be too serious when he was known for being goofy while he was playing.

the times i've watched him he tries way too hard to be funny and won't shut up. also his basketball opinions are horrible. he thinks bynum is better than dwight.
