The Dodgers? I thought he said no west coast teams?

I think it was just Northern California/Giants, due to the potentially cool weather at night which he didn't think would be good for his knees/joints.

I could see why he'd make them an exception, though...(although I'm not sure why they would be an the Angels wouldn't).

San Francisco's brutally cool weather at night is worse than Chicago, NY, or Philadelphia?

That's what Soriano said sometime last year as why he wouldn't accept a trade to SF. In the summer it does get much cooler at night in SF than it does in CHI, NY, PHI and I think that's what he meant. As for the extreme cold you can have in October I guess he didn't factor that in, but he probably just figures it's likely going to be cold anywhere you have to play outside in the playoffs.

Yeah, I was there for a game in July a few years ago and was wearing long pants and a fleece because it was cool and breezy.

Usually yes, from late May - early September.

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

Average July low in Chicago: 68. Philadelphia: 69. NYC: 69.

Average July high in San Francisco: 67.

how is it that at least 3-4 times a season we have to explain that San Francisco is not Hawaii?

Because many people can't reconcile "summer in California" with "cold".

Right...people living in Chicago calling California cold is just weird. It's all about perspective.

Yeah, as a 6 year old I didn't get it, but then I noticed every time the Cubs played there they wore jackets and the announcers talked about how cold it was and I figured it out.

Yeah, I live about 50 miles from the park, and it can be 90 here, and 50 at the stadium. It's crazy.

AT&T is a hell of a lot better than Candlestick was though.....

Add 10 degrees to both the coastal and 50 miles inland temps and it's the same way here in the LA and San Diego metros in, say, July or August.

ESPN mentioned that the Yankees might be interested in Soriano, with Granderson out for the start of the season.

Wouldn't Dejesus be a better fit?

They need a power bat and are already pretty left handed in the OF, so Soriano probably works. The money part and the fact they're unwilling to give up any kind of real prospect makes it an unlikely match.

Unless Brett (believe in him!) can win the CF job outright and you slide DeJesus over to left, I don't see the point of trading our cleanup hitter for prospects at this point in the year.

There's no need to create a hole at this time of year unless you are getting something difficult to replace in return, and the prospects we'd get for Soriano is not that. We can always fire sale in July if/when we're out of it.

Yeah, the time to deal Sori is when he's putting up an .800+ OPS at midseason, if we're out of it. Right now, I want to see what this team is capable of.

vin scully just said we traded soriano to the nats, i dont see anything about it anywhere else though

I'm going to guess that old man Scully got confused. Rafael Soriano signed with the Nationals this offseason.
