Probably has to do with him refusing to go to the OF (or was it refusing to play 2B? I can't remember for sure) while in Washinton. Once a player gets tagged as something, it pretty much never goes away.

I'm not really worried about moving Soriano today since he'll obviously clear waivers. Focus on Dempster and/or Garza.

He still won't go to the Giants :(

Alfonso Soriano told Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago that he probably wouldn't accept a trade to the Giants.

"I don't think so," said Soriano, who has 10-and-5 rights. He told the Cubs at the July 31 non-waiver deadline that he was not open to a move to San Francisco and it doesn't seem his mind has changed. The 36-year-old outfielder cleared waivers this week but might just stay put with the Cubs.

I really don't have an issue at all with that. Over the offseason, teams will be interested too and there's next to nothing available via FA. And honestly, if we don't receive something substantial in return, he can stay here, he's pretty solid.

Sori says he doesn't like SF weather so unlikely to agree to any trade.

It's generally more pleasant, but you'll struggle to find somewhere with more schizo weather on a near hourly basis.

It's 40 degrees more pleasant in the winter and 20-30 in the summer. Weather is one of the main reasons I don't live in Chicago anymore.

I can't really see ruling SF out because of the weather, but it's not idyllic, either. I actually like cool, foggy marine air, but I also like a semblance of predictability. Like N&G said, it's just weird.

I guess Sori just loves the nasty summers in Chicago. Or maybe it's the freezing springs.

SF has the coldest average high temps of any major continental US city in the summer. Dude was raised in the Dominican Republic. Maybe he doesn't want to play in 60 degree temps most of the year.

I can literally imagine thousands of them.

Chicago being one that comes to mind right away.

I agree, but SF is way down my list of ideal places to spend a summer. I'd much rather spend a summer in Frisco than practically anywhere in the midwest, including Chicago (weather-wise), but there are many, many places better than the bay area as well.

We didn't say that St. Louis was a great summer city.
