Let's look at what LSU accomplished.

Georgia makes the 8th ranked opponent LSU has beaten. Outside the OT win against #2 Bama, the closest anyone has come to beating them is 13 pts (Oregon and Miss State). No one other than Bama has gotten within a TD of them.

They have only trailed four opponents all year (Oregon, Bama, Arkansas, and Georgia).

I really wish we didn't have to play Bama again, but there is no doubt based on the resume', LSU is the best team this year.

In addition to being SEC champs, they have beaten the Pac-12 champs and the Big East champs as well.

Wow, on the SEC championship game broadcast they are talking about whether LSU should get a share of the national title by the AP even if they lose in the NC game.

Even if they are defeated in the title game I'd have a hard time saying that whomever it is would deserve to be champion over LSU.

Well if we get the rematch then unless Bama wins by 30 or something I'd have a hard time saying they don't have the stronger case. If they were to lose to OSU, I don't think they'd have the case.

so does this mean that when they get beaten by alabama in the BCS title game they float away on their own sweet tears?

You mean "if" and with the game in New Orleans, I think LSU has the edge in the rematch.

There's no chance of Virginia Tech having a chance to steal an at-large spot after today's performance, is there?

As long as Michigan is eligible I'd have a hard time seeing a bowl picking Virginia Tech over Michigan anyways.

I'm starting to get a bit worried about Michigan's BCS chances. A few things that really hurt are the fact that the Big Ten game is really close...if Wisconsin pulls it out I'm not sure MSU will for sure drop below Michigan. Another thing that hurt is Baylor winning comfortably. They could easily find themselves ahead of Michigan after the weekend. I'm starting to think that unless VT makes it close, Clemson winning comfortably could hurt Michigan as well. Even though they get the auto BCS bid, beating the 5 team in the country convincingly could have them jump Michigan. TCU also looked good in winning today and could jump UM.

The good things are Oklahoma getting destroyed. They could easily drop below UM after getting blown out in a rivalry game. Georgia lost, and although the game was close for awhile, the final score was lopsided. Houston lost badly and could drop all the way below UM.

So Michigan needs to jump 2 spots, and 4 teams ahead of them that they could realistically pass lost (6 Houston, 10 Oklahoma, 14 Georgia, 13/15 MSU/Wisc). However, 3 teams immediately below them won and looked good doing so. Is that going to be enough?

If Oklahoma State continues what they're doing tonight they could jump Alabama.

I hope so.

Pretty much the best case scenario for OSU today. They absolutely demolish OU while both Houston and VT lose. I think they're going to jump Bama. At the very least it will be close.

I'm leaning towards thinking they will too. It seems a lot of people don't want a rematch and this gives them reason to vote against it.

Plus you have people who won't vote a team who didn't win it's conference into the title game. And I think OSU will jump Bama in the computers, which will help. OSU was ahead even after they lost to Iowa State and only fell behind after Bama beat Auburn.

Wow...what a blunder.

MSU returns a punt to the 5 yard line with 1:30 left down 3, but they run into the kicker, giving Wisconsin a 1st down and clinching the game.
