Zach Zaidman on 670. Said Cutler had thumb looked over extensively by several specialists and is reporting that the Bears got the best possible news given the situation. Last night there was fear that he was going on IR. after tests today they are now going forward confident that Cutler will be back for AT LEAST the playoffs. The plan now is actually or Cutler to be back for the last regular season game against Minnesota and if absolutely nothing goes wrong week 16 against GB is not completely out of the question.

All in all, great news.

So in other words, 4-6 weeks as opposed to 6-8. I'll take it.

I wonder when we can expect a definitive date for surgery. Let's hurry up and get it over with so he can begin healing.

Anyone notice Knox not run out the play on the INT? He slipped obviously but he got up with plenty of time and didn't run it out ala Cutler.

Cutler was yelling after the play. The announcers thought he was yelling at the refs for a previous play, but he was clearly yelling at Knox that he needs to get up and finish the play. Falling is one thing, but if he'd gotten up immediately, he could've tackled the defender with the ball.

he was actually yelling at the assistant in charge of getting the play in. but i think we're talking about 2 different plays. the play i'm talking about was when he held two fingers up and said "that's 2", simms thought he was yelling at the "ref", which was stupid because he was obviously calling to someone on the sideline, and players don't generally yell at the line judges.

after the interception, he was seen on the sideline yelling at knox and pounding on his shoulder pads.

HOW DO YOU RE-PROPOSE WITH A BROKEN THUMB !?????????!!!!

I heard Cutler was seen last night hitchhiking. If he can put his thumb up to hitchhike the wuss should be able to play QB.

Ah, yeah. You're right...the announcers said he was yelling at the ref on that one too. But again, it was pretty evident that he was mad at the QB coach.

Reality TV star Kristin Cavallari was quick to deny an Internet report Monday that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler again had proposed to her.

"Not true," Cavallari told AccessHollywood.com when asked about a report on Life & Style Magazine's website that Cutler, after calling off their engagement last July to focus on football, proposed again and Cavallari accepted.

"I'd be wearing my ring if that was the case," Cavallari told AccessHollywood.com.

Weird, there were reports that Cutler was seen thumb wrestling any and all challengers at Hub 51 last night and was heard loudly boasting "I've got a month of vacation coming up, let's get drunk!"

#Bears want veteran backup with experience in Martz offense . Leading candidates: JT O'Sullivan & Josh McCown.

Figured those would be the top 2 names. Rather have 1 of those guys than a Bulger or Garcia, who are more experienced and would be more likely to get rushed on the field over Hanie, and have the fans with them if Hanie struggles in the least bit.

I prefer O'Sullivan between those 2 due to his experience with the bears as well as with Martz. That said, I hope he never has to see the field.

as long as martz isn't tempted to put them on the field ala todd collins, i'm ok with it. my biggest fear is we get another lurchy old guy who can't get rid of the ball and can't move his feet.

Wow....in 2005 Josh McCown had a game where he put up the following line:

32-46, 385 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 109.4 QBR

6 rushes, 32 yards

And Mr. O'Sullivan had a 2 game stretch in 2008 where he put up the following:

36-55, 510 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, 113.4 QBR

12 rushes, 64 yards

Let's be honest here, if either one of those guys plays more than garbage time with the Bears, the season is over.

1. They won't be ready until at least 2 weeks from now.

2. If they get in, it probably means we lost to Oakland (Ok) and KC (would be awful and basically season ending).

Let's hope Hanie takes every snap until Jay gets back. If Hanie signs a decent contract with another team after the season, it will be a win win for everyone.

They were discussing on Waddle and Silvy yesterday that supposedly Cutler is seen slamming his hand on the metal bench during the tirade he had after Knox's interception. I didnt see it so I don't know if that's true, but if it is, I don't think he slams his hand on a bench if his thumb is already broken.

Which would imply that he broke his thumb out of anger. Sounds to me like a media plot to further highlight what a horrible person he supposedly is.

That said, there are several signs that point to this being a less serious injury than we're led to believe. Assuming he gets surgery before the week is out, I'm going to go a step further than Lovie and say he returns on the 18th against Seattle.
