I don't know enough to say whether he was a better candidate than Maddux or the other guys. But we're still on the honeymoon.

Let's be honest about this: The Cubs are not gonna contend in 2012, so what he needs to learn about his team and the game as a manager he can do on the job. And when they're ready to win he'll be apart of it.

I have to admit, I'm starting to worry that we're going to throw out a lineup with LaHair at 1B and some random reclamation projects or something...and this is based on nothing logical whatsoever and completely based on our dumb local media's bad ability to infer.

I dont think any Cubs fans would care either way. Had the Cards hired him, some of the meatier would have had a fit, but I don't think that your average Cubs fan really has any idea about the ongoing Theo drama between the two teams.

I could somewhat understand people not wanting one of their icons going to a rival, especially an arch rival, but if they're really a fan wouldn't they want to see him get a job somewhere?

Like I said in the other thread. Theo and Jed worked with Sveum for two years in Boston. If he's ok with them, he's ok with me.
