It's already Week 11, best case scenario was Carimi comes back to practice Week 14. Gets in playing shape by Week 16, which is pushing it anyway. Better to get an actual live body in there, I think.

Word is Jordan Black will be signed Monday. He's not that good, but hopefully we never have to see him play.

Wasnt his injury supposed to be no big deal?

here's what happened......we were trying to rush carimi back without surgery, but lance louis started wrecking shop, so we were like, oh, it's ok, we'll just scope the knee, take care of it responsibly and then take our time. but then williams got hurt and we're like [expletive], and then carimi probably got an infection or is still having significant pain, so now we're kind of screwed.

The original one, yes, but then he tweaked it in practice and needed a scope and most indications from that point were that he was done for the season.

Carimi to IR. [expletive].

That sucks, although it's not nearly as upsetting as the Williams injury. Carimi showed he could play, but I don't really think he would have improved the RT position over Louis right now. Granted it would have been some much welcomed depth, or they could have put Louis back to guard, although he has been much less effective there. Hope he rests up and comes back healthy for 2012. Get another piece or two to go with him and Williams and we could have a, dare I say it, an above average offensive line.

We're going to really see what Tice is made of now. I think Ed Williams will do OK at LG, but our depth is completely gone (Frank Omiyale is not depth). Hopefully they can get some rookie in here quick and develop them like they have Webb and Louis.

That kind of sucks. Lose the best offensive lineman and the lineman with the most upside in one week. I wasn't completely down on losing Williams knowing that Carimi might eventually be able to find a spot on the line, but now that he's gone, I am nervous to see how the line is the rest of the year. The line sucked last week, especially after Williams left the game so hopefully a week practicing together (with Edwin) gets them better.

No surprise but Simmons is now in love with the Bears. He brought them up several times in his latest broadcast with Lombardi talking about how difficult they will be to beat in the playoffs and at the end of the show he gushed about how he loves this Bears team. Remember that this is a very similar Bears team to the one that was called the luckiest flukiest team ever with Simmons leading the charge.

Anyways it seems like the bears have gained a ton of people on the bandwagon this week. Tons or articles about how dangerous we are, and people taking about matching up with the Bears in the postseason, as if it's assumed that the Bears will be in the playoffs.

I don't believe that "us against the world" has a significant impact on performance, if at all, but I do feel quite uncomfortable with the Bears being in the unfamiliar position of media darlings. However, Lovie seems to be a master motivator and will surely find a way to get the team thinking that they have been slighted in some way.

I believe the us against them thing is somewhat real in football, where effort matters. I've also been afraid of the Bears getting full of themselves on multiple occasions in the past once skeptics started falling in love. I'm not sure why, but this doesn't feel like that situation. This feels like the Bears are actually pretty good, and they actually should win this game. I expect them to lose one of these next very winnable games, but not this one.

Looks like Phillips won't, in fact, be suiting up Sunday.

I'm actually concerned about this one. Our line is really beat up, the Chargers are on a losing streak, we're on a winning streak. To me that means we're due for a loss, and they're due for a win.

Plus the whole 3-4 thing, which we haven't seen in awhile, and the fact that we're even more patched up front than usual.

I think Jay's going to have to be very, very good to avoid rushers, call the right protections, and get the ball out. I know the Chargers aren't great and we're at home, but this feels like it might be a tough one. I'm not going so far as to predict a Bears loss, though. Hopefully we can eek it out on some Chargers mistakes and the energy of our home crowd/stadium.

"us against the world" is certainly a real thing in football, but so is the expectation of a win. Teams that expect to win are going to have an easier time of it. This is not the same thing as overconfidence or boastful talk.

The Bears are the better team against all of the afc west teams, and they should expect to go out and just win, but if becoming "media darlings" makes them overconfident and lazy, that's on the coaches. I don't see it happening.

As opposed to all of those times you're so cocky and confident over sports and, well, life.

I'm cocky about the Bulls. But of course they aren't playing.
