During an appearance with ABC27 News on Tuesday, Rominger suggested that Sandusky was showering with boys -- something that he has repeatedly admitted to -- in order to teach them "basic hygiene skills" rather than for any sexual purpose.

 

"Some of these kids don't have basic hygiene skills," Rominger told ABC 27. "Teaching a person to shower at the age of 12 or 14 sounds strange to some people, but people who work with troubled youth will tell you there are a lot of juvenile delinquents and people who are dependent who have to be taught basic life skills like how to put soap on their body."

When I was in high school, there was this PE teacher/coach who taught freshman swim class. I was not in his class myself, but apparently, he made all the freshman shower naked after swim class and got in the shower with them. He would basically "teach" the kids in his class how to shower, including spending a lot of time on how to lather up the scrotal area. I thought it was very weird hearing about this back then, but this made be think of it again.

 

Now looking back, I look on this way differently. Perverts are probably all over PE departments at every level, particularly high school.

Normally I'm opposed to capital punishment but in the case of people like joe paterno I'm willing to make an exception.
