JoePa may be looking for a new gig next year.

This weekend wasn't the first time this information came out, right? I feel like we heard about the first indications of an investigation a while ago and it has just been keep since then. I have to believe that if this wasn't JoePa, there would be more of an uproar about his ouster. Apparently the media is more interested in free tattoos than children being raped.

Stay away from Manny Diaz please! I want to see what he can do given 3 seasons while installing his system. I could see Smart and Malzahn being the front runners. I wonder how committed June Jones is to SMU, though I am not sure Ole Miss is a big enough jump for him to consider that.

It's not just a jump to the SEC but the money Ole Miss throws around is pretty sick. Ole Miss usually hovers around 10th or so in best paying coaching jobs. Nutt for all his incompetence is making 2.8 mil a year.

Jones is already at 2.2 with SMU and will probably get a raise with them moving to a BCS school. Either way it doesn't matter too much.

Looking at this list is crazy. Can't believe that Iowa is paying Pinkle so much or that Wake is as high as they are either.

I think that's true. I didn't realize it was confirmed that Joe had actual knowledge of the allegation before. But I didn't follow it that closely.

re the OSU comparison, Kobe won a title shortly after raping a girl while Vick served years for killing dogs so...I don't know...life isn't fair?

torturing and killing dogs is generally considered a lesser crime than getting a free tattoo, no? And the charges against Kobe were eventually dropped. These aren't very equal comparisons.

I guess you missed the part where this story led the ABC/NBC nightly news and has been at the top of the CNN website all weekend.

I havent spent a lot of time in my life thinking about pedophiles and child rape or whatever so i dont know what i was expecting, but i was really not prepared for graphic descriptions of an old man banging a 10 year old in a lockerroom shower.

As doubtful as it is, LSU losing in the SEC championship would throw our everything and would be fun to see the reactions.

Or LSU losing to Arkansas.

No, Arkansas would just play for the title then (presuming Stanford and Okla St lost). That'd be a pretty open-and-shut case.

How would Arkansas pass Oklahoma in that scenario? Or even Alabama?

Arkansas would have more quality wins than OU and a much "better" loss.

Yeah, I forgot to take into consideration that OU would have to beat #2 OSU for this scenario to be possible. But a loss at home against Texas Tech is much worse than a (road?) loss to Alabama. But I don't see a scenario where a 1-loss Arkansas would be ahead of a 1-loss Alabama.

They'd be the SEC champ and have a better win than any of Alabama's wins (LSU). Yes, they lost to Bama, but those two factors should supersede that, one would think.

The thing is though, Oklahoma is already ahead of Arkansas in both the polls and the computers. LSU and Oklahoma State are currently tied in the computers so I'm not sure how Arkansas would jump Oklahoma in the computers (their other games are according to Sagarin harder for Oklahoma-Tennessee and Mississippi State for Arkansas, Baylor and Iowa State for Oklahoma). So many people would have to move Arkansas ahead in the polls for them to pass Oklahoma, and I don't see how that would happen. The only reason I could possibly see it is because the Arkansas-LSU game is the week before the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game.

They'd only go to the SEC championship game if they were ranked higher in the BCS rankings than Alabama to begin with (IIRC, that's the SEC's tiebreaker in a scenario like this). Any of the 3 could end up being the SEC West representative if that happened.

Yeah, no way they jump Bama. The Tide would be the highest of the 3 in the BCS at that point.

Exactly. It would be the same scenario as with the Big 12 a couple years ago when Texas Tech, Texas and Oklahoma were all 11-1. In this case, I see Arkansas ending up as the Texas Tech with either Bama or LSU going to the SEC title game. The only way Arkansas gets in is if they pound LSU. Otherwise, LSU will have a close loss to Arkansas, Bama will have an OT loss to LSU while Arkansas will have gotten blown out by Bama.

Can't believe that Iowa is paying Pinkle so much

Huh?

Its been that kind of day. Mean't Ferentz.

He's had multiple opportunities to jump to the NFL, which is one reason. Plus he's provided incredible stability so they haven't had to spend resources going after other coaches and/or buying out one while hiring a new one. And his staff barely shows up on the list of assistants getting paid. Put that together with a solid bowl record, a couple big ten championships and flirtations with the top of the polls and he's probably been worth every penny.

In totally expected news...Houston Nutt will be relieved of his duties (along with a 6 million dollar buyout check) at the end of the season. Will coach remainder of games though.

According to the Rivals writers, the top candidates expected to replace are Alabama DC Kirby Smart, Auburn OC Gus Malzahn, and Texas DC Manny Diaz.

I'd personally want Kevin Sumlin from Houston.

Sounds like Mike Leach is interested in the Ole Miss job. That could be interesting.

No, damn it. I want Illinois to hire Leach.

I'm not sure Leach is the right man for Illinois.
