For some reason, this thread took me back to those awful, "Leon loves Leon" commercials.

Leon is getting larrrrrger.

It's McCleod.

Typo folks. If a mod would fix it that would be great...

“Yeeaaahh, if you could just go ahead and make sure you do that from now on that would be great.”

This is almost too good to be true. If we have Theo, Jed and Jason running this operation, that's the friggn front office dream team right there. Moneyball the movie? W'ell be in Moneyball 2, Money(expletive deleted)Ball, starting the World Series trophy!

So, does this basically signify the end of Tim Wilken's run here?

Wilken isn't the assistant GM so I don't see why it would. I never disliked Wilken's picks, but they weren't overly amazing either. Solid, but not atrocious, but what kind of old school resources was he working with? Bring in these three and give him more information and resources to make better calculated picks, he might be an improved version of himself

I loved Theo Epstein going to the Cubs. Getting Jed Hoyer's like splitting aces and hitting two face cards. As I said: Cubs, sleeping giant.

Similarly, Josh Byrnes is an excellent fallback for San Diego. Still tons of brains in that front office (Hinch, MacLeod, Smith, Abbamondi).

Mistake on McLeod. Reportedly going to Cubs as well. Still, cupboard far from bare in San Diego was the point -- and ever richer in Chicago.

Q:Who’s the most talented player you ever scouted?

A: It’s got to be (University of San Diego High product) Mark Prior when he was at USC. (Stephen) Strasburg (West Hills/SDSU) would be up there. High school-wise, (Mt. Carmel’s) Eric Chavez, Justin Upton and Bryce Harper.

I haz a sad.

Maybe the end of Tim Wilken's free reign here.

CCP would say that epstein has a lot of respect for wilken's work.

i would say that mcleod is going to be doing that job, for all intents and purposes.

I'm ok with it if he does. But the early reports don't have McLeod becoming the scouting director for the Cubs. I'm sure he will have significant input into the draft either way, but it's left to be seen if he's replacing Wilken or not.
