"Progress" could mean "Okay, we agree on the players, but who pays for Epstein's ride to the airport."

 

Or it could mean "Okay, I don't wish you would die in a fire. A quiet, painless death would be okay."

Kaplan just said a couple of things on CTL...not really anything new

 

- Parameters of deal have been agreed upon and in place since Wednesday and Henry is just holding it up and refusing to sign off. Selig has to get involved sooner or later to stop this circus.

 

- From his very good source "who would know" (I know he Tweeted it, but for the sake of giving you a complete report) - no compensation to SD for Hoyer.

I wont complain, but I said it before and I'll say it again, I find it odd that The Padres aren't asking for anything in return for their young GM who they've only had for about 2 years and was supposed to shape them into something resembling a major league baseball team while the Red Sox are asking for top prospects for a guy they're done with regardless.

It probably has a lot to do with internal issues in Boston, but also Theo is a superstar, Hoyer is not. It's not completely analogous to getting the top position player like Pujols, but there is a small parallel. Mostly though, Henry and Larry are being asshats. It's really uncalled for.

LOL the guys on SoSH are now using the Pats compensation for letting Bill Parcells go to the Jets as their precident that Theo's compensation should be based on.

I don't se how that's what you're getting out of it. Sounds more like he's saying piss or get off the pot. I don't see why he's dragging the Padres into it though, as they seem ready to part with their guy without a struggle.

Gammons would marry Theo if he could. He absolutely would love for him to stay and has taken every possible shot at the Cubs during this whole process as if to say to Theo: "Why the hell do you want to go there"?
