It seems as though everyone out there is 100% that it will get done eventually except for a handfull NSBB and SoSH posters.

this is as unrealistic as I've seen SOSH awhile. Seems like a majority of the posters there believe that the Red sox can walk away from and keep Theo. I simply think that is next to impossible. Both sides have to bend a bit. Overthemonster is a bit more realistic on the situation, at least, with a good writer like Marc Normandin there.

Actually, what irks me in reading Red Sox boards, and I've always been partial to the Red Sox, is that a lot of them seem to buy this stuff being spouted from the Boston media about how our whole system is crap and that there aren't any worthwhile/intriguing players below McNutt. Arguably, the most intriguing talent is below McNutt, in rankings and overall level right now. Honestly, their system is very similar to ours right now, maybe a tiny tick better (a few more of their upside guys have trickled into A/A+ than ours - that said, I still tend to think some of their top talents, like Middlebrooks/Matt Barnes/Boegarts and a couple others are overhyped), but that's it.

i enjoyed when everyone was saying kap was reliable yesterday. that was fun

Didn't we just go through this like a month or two ago? Kaplan's opinions are sub-neanderthal. His "sources" have a pretty decent track record. As for Cafardo, I don't know what I've personally said, but he seems to be going with the tide for the most part with the reporting, and spouting the party line(which is to say, lunacy) when he editorializes.

Cafardo was saying nothing was close before the [expletive] hit the fan yesterday, IIRC.

You'd have to think Cherington is getting a little "ticked" at Red Sox brass as well. I mean, here's a guy ready to take over and ownership is basically saying we never wanted Theo to go (At least Henry said that). In one sentence, they say they have full confidence in Cherington, yet are they really saying that by their actions during this whole process?

The Cubs have offered compensation in the form of big money and prospects to easy Henry's pain. He is clearly acting like a jilted lover at this point.

And with Selig having seen just about enough, Henry needs to let go before he looks like a bigger fool(should it come to Selig getting involved) than he already does.

I would die of happiness of Kapman made a screen name and tried to respond to all this hate. He is so damn thin skinned that I'm sure it would be one of the 2-3 most enjoyable things to happen on NSBB.

There is growing optimism on the side of the Red Sox that a deal could soon be struck with the Cubs regarding compensation for Theo Epstein.

Nothing is final yet according to team sources but the sides are getting closer.

MLB officials said commissioner Bud Selig is prepared to step in and mediate the issue if needed. If the teams do not announce a deal today, they would have to wait until Tuesday.

It has been 10 days since Epstein agreed on a five-year, $18.5 million deal to run baseball operations for the Cubs.

2% chance it happens today.

Getting mixed signals from #RedSox camp on Theo deal. 1 source said "doubtful" it gets done today, other said "getting close-hopefully" #wbz

Bud Selig has stayed out of Theo Epstein talks between Red Sox and Cubs. Compensation deal not done but lots of optimism that it will.

Rotfl...this is a joke. Just tell them to go [expletive] themselves and hire one of the other guys who are very capable of doing this job.

Walk the extra mile boy, walk the extra mile. It will make a man of ya!

Tommy knows that. Ole J. Joseph taught Tommy and Todd that when they were mere lads.

Then again what made humans great hunters was their patience and stamina so...Keep chugging along Ricketts...I don't doubt you know you have many other options anyway.

And if the Red Sox are "optimistic", this only means we have up'd the ante with regards to compensation. Have to feel like McNutt or Vitters are going to bean town.

or its a phony report from a bad source, like half this 'news' is

Kaplan actually posted on my Facebook wall a few months ago, saying he didn't appreciate my posts on his statuses. That's what happens when you're a constant meathead/meatball.

I guess the guy doesn't know how to defriend people on there, otherwise I'm sure that would've happened a long time ago. The guy has some serious issues.

Well you are the one posting on his facebook\twitter. I'd be annoyed to if I were him.
