So if you want to say that over the last 6 seasons, Soriano produced more than the average player has, then you'd be correct, even if 42% of that production came in the one year he wasn't on the Cubs.

To be honest, I'd be OK with a patient approach if it werent for the fact that there are 2 guys out there, either of whom would be exactly what we need as the cornerstone for a successful 2-3 year rebuild.

I'm hoping. I would guess he would rather just try and get something out of him this year at that price than just waste the money on paying him to play elsewhere. I would think Ricketts would be open to letting his GM determine that outcome.
