And despite the belief I want Ryno to be the next manager, if Theo announced he's coming here and bringing Francona with him, I might cry happy tears.

That said, I do not want all of this to come crashing down by finding out Epstein is staying. Huge disappointment if that happens.

It may be wise to prepare yourself.

Does it mean anything that Theo isn't going to join them tomorrow? Typically wouldn't the GM join them and chime in on what direction they're going to take?

Well, when Francona was let go, ALL of them (Lucciano, Henry and Epstein) were present. I think it's signifigant. When it's Red Sox related, they are all usually joined at the hip.

This isn't a press conference, right? If it's just a radio interview, I bet at most it's Henry saying they've granted Theo permission to interview with the Cubs.

Correct. More to the point (IMO) is to give Red Sox fans and the media a chance to digest the real possibilty Theo could be coming here.

If any of you are expecting any valuable information in regards to Theo out of a radio interview with an owner, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Then why are the two top guys in the organization doing the radio interview if it's nothing signifigant? Look, you could be right but they need to address this as Boston and Chicago are basically hanging upside down here.

This would be quite a strange time for them to go on location to a radio show with nothing to say, that's for sure.

It's unusual enough for an owner and president to be in studio for a radio interview as it is, much less at a time where there is rampant speculation about their GM leaving, a situation they need to resolve in order to get their managerial search done.

They are going on the radio to discuss "the state of the team" during a period where the only viable topics to discuss are the manager search and the gm situation. Everyone is waiting to hear their response about the Cubs and Theo, so there is literally no reason to go on the radio if they are not going to address that because that's primarily what people want to know. Besides, if the owners are too above discussing Theo's status, then ultimately who is going to fill us in? Usually the GM would, but since we are talking about the GM, the response is going to come from above.

They aren't going to address it on a radio show at 7AM. They are just going to beat around the bush with non-answers.

I missed that Lucchino was also going to be present. That does make it more interesting I suppose.

Still, I'm not expecting that there will be much to take out of it, and Theo's obviously going to be kept away from any interviews and whatnot until this whole situation is finalized.

That's how I see it, and usually how front office interviews go.

No, that would be a news conference.

I think the chances of news coming out today/tonight is probably greater than any new info coming out on the radio in the morn.

All reports say that the Sox want to figure this out one way or another by the end of the world. The entire fanbases of the Red Sox and Cubs are desperately waiting to hear whats going on. It's been 3 days since the Cubs have requested permission so answers are needed. They will not be able to get away with going on the air and giving non-answers.

Another thing to point out is that Henry and co. have always been very open in general with the fans. Henry has a twitter account and has been posting tidbits about the manager search on it. While some stuff is obviously kept in the organization, it is not at all beyond them to do something like go on the radio to respond to the Theo story.

Or he would be present and they would announce: "Theo has signed an extension". The fact that he is not going to be there all but eliminates that possibility. They have been behind closed doors for a few days now. There's absolutely no reason to go on the radio unless they have something to say regarding Epstein.

Francona is yesterdays news and they certainly will not be talking about how much they are looking forward to 2012.

That's really narrowing down a time frame.

Yes, but the news will be related to what they are planning to discuss on the radio.

If Theo is interviewing with the Cubs, it makes perfect sense for them to come on and explain to fans why they made this decision (we owe it to him, etc) so that they are not destroyed for just letting Theo go.

If they turn down the Cubs request they will talk about why they don't want Theo to leave and then discuss the manager search and the offseason.

They have been beating around the bush since last week and certainly the last few days. They are going to address this.

They have to. Didn't Henry all but say on Twitter they would clarify where things stand tomorrow?

Front offices beat around the bush with the media almost always with situations like this. They'll address it... likely after the news comes out(Theo staying or leaving).

So... they want it settled by the time the Cubs win the World Series?
