things are getting uugggllyyyy. i think the odds have definitely shifted in favor of the "there will be no season at all" possibility.

[expletive] you, nba. good job reversing the momentum right after you finally started gaining the casual fanbase back again.

The players' growing interest in decertification almost ensures that the union will not retreat from its demand for a 52 percent revenue split, and league sources have told Broussard a significant number of owners are growing resistant to offering the players a 50/50 split.

Sources told ESPN.com's Henry Abbott that in a Thursday evening conference call among owners, Michael Jordan of the Charlotte Bobcats was among a vocal group of owners upset at NBA commissioner David Stern for not driving a harder bargain to this point.

The New York Times reported that Jordan's group wants the players' share to be no higher than 47 percent.

what the hell is even going on? what a mess.

Yup, its not looking good.

If the players decertify, there is a 45 day window before decertification where Stern and the Union can still negotiate. The hope is that Stern does not want them to decertify and will give in a little more. If that window passes, you can almost guarantee there will be no season, as the players will sue the league and try to get the court to overturn the lockout (just like the NFL PA tried to do).

The thing is, both sides seem to be completely divided, so that's only complicating things more.

He wants the other 3 percent of the offer to go to Kwame Brown.

Did you see that Yahoo! article? Apparently Jordan was leading a group who didn't want to give the players more than 37% at the beginning of the negotiations.

bye bye NBA!

I haven't been following the lock out too closely but I did just read through some of the threads on RealGM. Is this pretty much official?

Morally, I think the owners are more in the wrong, but the players are foolish if they think they will ever win this. They just don't understand that many owners would rather miss the season(considering they will probably lose money on the current deal) and hold firm to their demands.

Stern:

They should have done this a long time ago, then maybe we'd have a chance at saving this season

Welcome to the nuclear winter of the NBA

[expletive] just got real.

excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does decertifying mean?

I think it means they are no longer legally considered a "union" and it gives them some sort of legal advantage now or something.
