Hopefully this means that LaMahieu gets more playing time and some starts, although more likely it will be the Baker/ DeWitt platoon. Don't get me wrong, offensively, the B/D platoon is the better option but LaMahieu should either be getting sufficient PT or in Iowa or Tennessee playing everyday and call up Scales or someone of he like.

Unfortunately, LaMahieu will continue to rot at the end of the bench and theyll go with the Baker/DeWitt platoon, which is probably th best offensive option to begin with but nobody benefits from LaMahieu in the role he's in now. Scales should be in it instead with DJ in Iowa.

Well that's one way to get the guy a rest. He's been pretty terrible for almost two months after the hot start, but he's probably been the least likely guy to sit for a game as well.

I don't understand why LaMahieu isn't given the chance to play for a couple of weeks. I think Quade and Hendry believe Baker and Johnson will continue producing at the level they have so far if they play every day. I don't think many fans believe that though.

 

While they have been better about using young kids the last few years, they still seem to count on bad veterans as soon as someone gets injured.

You are missing the point, they both will probably become issues when they play everyday. Nothing in their past suggests they will continue to be productive when they play everyday.

 

I find it hard to believe the Cubs can't find someone better than Reed Johnson and Tony Campana to play CF, especially with the history of back problems for Johnson.

I think Marlon Byrd was the plan for that role until he broke his face.

 

If Baker plays everyday and sucks, then it will be an issue. But it's not like LeMehieu is some force that needs to be in the game.
