Vitters with another double. 2-for-3, 2 2bs, up to .286.

This is more fun than following the MLB games.

His OPS is up to .778.

And Jeff Lorick continues to struggle as a starter for Daytona. Today was his worst outing yet.

Simpson gives up 5 in the second inning

I know the guy's had a really rough go of it, but yeesh. It's at a point where I'm hoping he can crack the 100 inning mark this year and get a do-over next season.

Exactly. I think everyone would like to blame this on his illness and weight loss, but that excuse is only going to last for so long.

Kevin Rhoderick with another strong relief outing as well. Between Daytona and Tennesee this year, his line goes as follows:

35IP, 15H, 5 ER, 17BB, 41K, 1HR

If he continues to pitch well, what are the chances he is part of the Cubs bullpen next year?

I'd lie if I said I wasn't losing a little hope here. I know it's extremely premature, but I'd like to at least see a couple decent outings strung together.

Daytona has had some nice performance so far today.

Ha is 3/3 with a 2B and a walk. Bour has hit his 16th HR of the year. And don't look now, but Cuban Juan Serrano's last ten games have been pretty darn impressive.

Vitters 3/4. BA up to .290, OPS to .784.

y'all never should have lost the faith!

I wish we could see a little more power out of him.

He's slugging .667 in the last ten games. That's power enough. His production thus far would project to 45 2B and 18 HR over 600 AB. Given that those numbers have occurred while he's slumped for the vast majority of the season I am not concerned with his power. As Craig said, I'd like to see him pull out of his slumps quicker (make adjustments sooner).

I just consider Szczur the best guy from that draft.

And his 4th HR of the season will only help that. 2/3 with a HR and 2 RBI. Now batting .341.

I'm not sure I buy into "plus-plus" speed (Na is faster) but I do think that he'll have at least MLB average power.

Szczur was one of the fastest players coming into the NFL draft, as memory serves. Now, whether or not he can use that speed as a weapon on the basepaths and also to help his range in the OF is another matter altogether.

So why couldn't Na have plus-plus-plus speed? Haven't you ever heard of "this one goes to 11"?

Seriously, I agree with you. I don't think he has world class speed on the bases, but I think its safe to say he's fast, and that his speed translates well to stealing bases and good defense.

Well, he's got 14 stolen bases in 42 games against just 4 caught stealing. That's a pretty good ratio. And some scouting reports say that he is good to great defensively in center.

I have a feeling that we're all on the ground floor of the prospect love that Szczur's going to be getting. It took BA close to the end of the season before they really started up with the Castro hype and I could easily see this type of assent for Szczur as well, if he gets moved up and does anything close to what he's doing currently.
