McNutt taken out after 2 innings (47 pitches). No word on why.

Kurcz with a bad outing including poor control.

Beeler with a strong outing.

I also noticed that Vitters isnt in the Smokes lineup after being pulled early in last nights game. Me wonders if they're just waiting to hear if Aramis will need to miss time, but more likely, its an injury of some sort.

The Cubs don't play until tomorrow night, they wouldn't need to hold Vitters out tonight. Especially since Huntsville to St. Louis isn't exactly a killer commute.

And you'd have to imagine Flaherty would be a better option to get called up over Vitters right now.

Szczur finishes 4 for 6 with a HR and a SB. That puts him at roughly .340/.400/.465 with 15/13 K/BB and 14/15 in SB.

And why exactly did the Cubs choose to promote Silva again...?

I would imagine they would get aggresive with him because of the contract he has. But maybe not?

How about Casey Harman so far? The MWL doesn't seem to be posing much of challenge.

18.2 IP, 10 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 19 Ks.

He's a 6'1" lefty. Anybody have a scouting report on what he throws?

How close is Beliveau to being major league ready. His numbers have been great this year, and they've been consistently good his entire pro career. He seems to have greatly improved his control this season. Might he be a call up later this season?

I hope so. The Cubs have to prepare for a post-John Grabow world.

With Scott Maine and James Russell ahead of him right now, I think if Beliveau gets called up, it'd probably be a September nod. That said, if he keeps rolling, who knows.

The Casey Harman I recall from Clemson was a mid-upper 80's fastball guy who got some sink on the pitch. I remember mixed reports on his secondary stuff, but the general feeling was a solid changeup, decent breaking ball (wasn't exactly a pure slider back then). Still a bit disappointed that the Cubs didn't ponder him as a starter. Maybe they'll ponder it next year, but I doubt it. He could move fast as a pen arm, at least, through the A ball ranks. I'd be surprised if he isn't in FSL by year's end.

Ty'Relle Harris' control is a bit bothersome, but the rest of the pen looks good. I still have some questions as to whether or not Dolis is a true late inning arm at the next level, or more of a power middle reliever.

My hunch on the Silva call up was that Szczur was off at graduation and was a bit banged up, and someone had to go up. mlp made a point over at Bruce Miles blog, though, that Silva looked, in practice, to be the most polished relative to his skillset (or something along those lines).

Micah Gibbs is showing a real good eye, with 9 walks in his last 5 games and a 28:20 BB/K ratio. Not much slugging to speak of, but the .148 isoD looks pretty good.

Jeffry Antigua had his first outing at Daytona last night, with 3 innings of 1 hit no walk ball, and no fly outs. I was real high on him two years ago and while last year wasn't very good he's still only 20 (for another three weeks.)

Szczur is a better and more important prospect than Silva. And Silva after all his Cuban play should be more experienced and advanced.

Made sense to leave Szczur where he belonged, and to put the more experienced lesser prospect up. Szczur needs all the CF practice he can get. If Silva is a utility player at Daytona and plays a lot of LF/RF (because Ha is the better CF prospect than him), that's the way it goes with lesser prospects.

Thus far Silva K's a lot, doesn't walk or steal much, and hasn't shown much power. Given his Cuban experience, it's harder to pass it all off as "he's never played before" inexperience. I'm not optimistic.

I agree with this which is why I didn't understand the huge bonus. He can certainly improve, but he's already shown what he's capable of against advanced players and it wasn't anything all that special.
