Looking at strike 3 down the middle?

 

Looks like he didn't pick up the spin there..by the time he realized it wasn't a high fastball like all the others Bell had thrown it was way too late.

I miss the middle of last season, where the Cubs were in the tank and I had a stress free summer.

Ah, I was watching on Gamecast. That makes me feel a little better.

Baker singled to center field

 

Would reed have scored from 2nd?

It's not impossible. It took fairly long for the CF to get it, but he was really close to the IF when he did

 

Also, Starlin robbed of a double or triple and the Cubs robbed of runs just now

 

And even if Reed didn't score on the Baker single, he would have scored on Fukudome's single.

 

Looks like this sequence of events ended up looming large. Oh well, we still won the series. Lets go out there and beat the Dodgers while they still have a team to beat.

so the cubs have been 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8 and now 9-9 correct?

 

How delightfully average this team is.

Ah, I was watching on Gamecast. That makes me feel a little better.

Yeah, he threw him high fastballs which he didn't swing at and then struck him out on a pitch that started high and broke at the bottom of the zone, if that's what he meant to do, it was very good pitching.

With the Cards on the verge of winning, there will be a four-way tie for first in the NL Central. The Cubs, Cards, Brewers and Reds are all 9-9. Had the Pirates won today, they also would have been 9-9.

Maybe...but 9-9 playing the Pirates, Diamondbacks, Brewers, Astros, Rockies, and Padres is probably not good enough because the Phillies, Braves, Giants, Dodgers, Yankees and Red Sox are still on the schedule.

Coleman would have had to pitch on short rest.

 

The good news is that the Cubs only have to have the #5 spot come up twice more in the next 3+ weeks. Hopefully they'll have one of Wells/Cashner back by around mid-May (probably Wells).

We play those teams, what 30 times? Compared to the 65 or so against the first group?

 

I'm just saying...its the easiest part of the schedule right now. Doesn't mean we're doomed or anything moving forward. If we are mediocre against the bad teams are are playing now, we'll have to play better to make the playoffs.

Except the Rockies are one of the best teams in the NL and the Brewers are with us and the Reds at the top of our mediocre division.
