Ok, so what are his REAL numbers as a starter in the majors? Please enlighten us of these stats

This year.....

ERA 7.20 IP 5.0 H 9 WHIP 18.20

Comical... You are making a fool of yourself.

And you trying to cherry pick stats are doing the same.

Nobody cherry picked anything. 1 person showed you his stats as a starter in the majors. He didn't say this year, or last year, or 10 years prior to that. He specifically said "COLEMANS STATS AS A STARTER IN THE MAJORS" and you said he was making [expletive] up. You are back peddaling and making an even bigger fool of yourself, than if you would have just said "ahh those are his numbers as a starter in the majors, gotcha". But you keep going on and on and wont admit you accused somebody of making up stats, and he did no such thing.

a whip of 18.20? yep someone is definitely making up stats in this thread.

oh well since a website says it, it must be true.

by the way, WHIP stands for Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched. so what you are telling us is that he has pitched 5 innings this season and amassed a WHIP of 18.20, meaning that he has allowed 18.20*5 = 91 walks and hits in just 5 innings of work. you'd think the cubs would have removed him from that game a bit earlier, since he apparently went through the brewers' lineup a minimum of 11 times in just 5 innings.

Please learn to read. I said use his real numbers. If you want to cherry pick numbers as a starter fine. But I don't think it works like that. His stats include all of his performances. If you want to pretend that he performs better when he only pitches as a starter, fine, make yourself feel better however you want.

Fair enough, Espn.com says his whip is 2.00 does that make it better?

to be fair, this is way funnier than if he'd just admitted his mistake and moved on.

yes, a WHIP of 2.00 is astronomically better than a WHIP of 18.20.

Right, a 2.00 Whip ranks him as the 322nd best pitcher in whip this year.

Casey Coleman and Coors field is not the greatest combination in the world. I think Coleman will be ok overall at starting in the major leagues but this is a really difficult test for him. A guy with a bad strikeout/walk ratio who likes to keep the ball in play and has an iffy defense behind him combined with all that space in Coors field for balls to land. Coleman better have his sinker working well tonight.

usually this type of tomfoolery doesnt occur until after The Cubs are down 4-0 in the 3rd. But hey, at least CUBZ99 and Keener are giving the thread a chance to get past the 5 page mark. Now if I were to make up stats, hed be 32-3 1.35 ERA 1.12 WHIP.

Casey Coleman as a starter in the majors:

W	L	ERA	GS	IP	H	R	ER	HR	BB	IBB	SO	WHIP	SO/9	SO/BB
4	2	3.69	9	53.2	55	23	22	5	21	2	24	1.416	4.0	1.14

Yeah, he's not likely to continue doing this well, but to pretend that he's been a failure based on one start is idiotic. As a spot/5th starter, a team could do a lot worse...like James Russell or Jeff S.

His success as a starter has been almost entirely predicated on an untenable 0.55 HR/9 rate. That rate would have put him 10th amongst qualified starters last year, behind only Josh Johnson, Billingsley, Ubaldo, Liriano, CJ Wilson, Anibal Sanchez, Clay Buchholz, Jaime Garcia, and Mike Pelfrey. The astute amongst you will have already noticed that a lot of the names on that list aren't expected to repeat their performance... and each of them (including Pelfrey) is significantly more talented than Coleman.

In short, Coleman is going to give up home runs... and when he does, it's going to get ugly in a hurry. It's best he stay in the rotation no longer than absolutely necessary and the Cubs should be looking for replacement options even during that time.

But what if a poster is acting in a manner befitting a mentally challenged person? Would it not be right to call him a [expletive]?

Why is Barney batting 2nd when Fukudome is playing?

Because Barney is hitting .320 thus far and Fukudome hasn't played in the better part of a week with an injury.
