Let me pose this hypothetical:

If the Bulls go 16-0 in the playoffs, will they be a greater team this year than any Jordan-led team?

No, not even close.

The 1995-96 Bulls went 72-10, 14-1 in the playoffs, and then tanked a couple to win at home.

As long as Rose is isolating on Collison, he's getting to the rim at will. The Pacers need to trap him out high to keep it from happening, because Rose can avoid a charge pretty easily, at which point the Pacers are left either going for the block and likely fouling regularly, or not contesting the shot closely and letting him take whatever he wants at the rim.

Rose versus Collison one-on-one is a nightmare for Bruin fans. Flashbacks to UCLA-Memphis in the 2006 Final Four. At least I'm on the right side of this one.

That has GOT to be a conspiracy theory.

I always thought Jordan forced the series to go 6 games as a thank you to David Stern for letting him back in the NBA after his suspension.

Well, it's a bit suspect that their two worst offensive games of the year just happened to be those two games in the NBA Finals, after they blitzed a terrific Seattle team three times, and then coasted to victory again in game 6. The Bulls lost 3 games all that year by double digits, and the third took a lights out offensive performance by the Knicks combined with bad offensive game from both Jordan and Pippen. And they were still worse offensively overall in those other two games.

It's a moot point, though, because the Bulls won't go 16-0 in the playoffs (even if I predicted it).

I bet he got his dad some nice seats for that one.

Hollinger stuck up for the Bulls in his insider article today.

I was glad Chicago came back and won, because if the Bulls had lost, we would have been fed a bunch of pablum about their inexperience or their nervousness as the top seed or some other psychological silliness, when the real problem was that Indiana made a bunch of impossible shots for 45 minutes.

Meh, the Sonics won 8 less games than the Bulls that year (2 more than the Bulls this year). They beat the Bulls in the regular season. They had the best defensive guard in the league (besides maybe MJ). It doesn't seem impossible that with their backs to the wall and on their home court where they had an almost identical home record to the Bulls (38-3 vs. 39-2), they hold the Bulls offense down and get 2 pride saving wins. I know your post is mostly in jest but still.

He also mentions that Hansbrough scored as many points the previous meeting against the Bulls, but much more on shots at the rim than outside, and that Boozer was likely playing off him on purpose to make him hit shots from deep.

Also, Hollinger's proposed defensive adjustments for game 2:

- Don't use Collison on Rose, but hide him on Bogans/Brewer (Korver helps negate this plan)

- Boozer should play up on Hansbrough and trust that the help defense will help when he gets by him.

Looking at the box, Hansbrough still made 2/3 of his shots from 16-23 feet in that game, so it's not like the Bulls made him miss then, either.

Although, in the rest of the meetings, Hansbrough was 2-5 from that range combined, so maybe Vogel made him a bigger focus.

Yay, I win!

That said, after someone pointed out how Psycho beat us at the rim in the previous game, I am thinking we should stick with what we did in game 1, and if he starts to hit those shots again, then get up in his face and make him beat us at the rim.

I bet not even the biggest UNC fan figured that one day relatively soon we would be obsessively discussing how to stop Tyler [expletive] Hansborough.

lol you were 3 minutes away from getting owned at home by darren collison and tyler hansbrough. maybe lets pump the breaks a second here.

The Pacers broke the all-time FG% record, and the Bulls still won.

I agree with both of those actually. George is the best option to potentially guard Rose (which is why I thought he would be labeled as an x factor in that playoff preview). They should force Hansbrough to drive because he isn't quite as effective doing that. The only reason Chicago might not want to do that is because they would be worried that the best way to lose is to get their bigs into foul trouble and so it might be worth it to keep Hansbrough who is adept at finding contact and drawing fouls away from the paint area. There's no reason to take many risks when you're the favorite and know that as long as you can keep your talent on the floor you have a great chance to win.

I'm sure it's playoff jitters but I have visions of Indiana raining in threes again and Boozer staring at Hansbrough while hits jumper after jumper and I'm getting nervous.

I hate that this game starts so late though.

Hypothetically speaking, let's say Rose grows 7 inches this offseason. Do you move him to center and try to trade Noah for a point guard? Or do you move Boozer to someone and go with the twin towers thing like the Spurs did? Can Watson start at PG or will he get taller too?
