I think IU matches up pretty well with Wisconsin, but I've felt that a lot (exception: last 3 years). If IU takes care of the ball I think they win. Curious to see how the rotation changes with Jones out.

I feel like Wisconsin is a team that everyone thinks they match up with because they play so slow and it looks so ugly. Then they beat you.

Except for you.

Verdell just blew out his knee.

That's a tough break for a senior on a team that is going to the tournament when they've been bad for his entire career.

Yeah, as much as I hate IU, that really sucks.

It sucks. Injuries always suck. It sucked when Hummel got hurt a couple years ago when Purdue was really, really good. It sucks that Jones has had to play on three crap teams and, then when he finally plays on a good team, he gets hurt right before he can play in the NCAA Tournament.

Yay, we win. I wonder if that gets us an NIT birth.

Don't think so. Lose tomorrow and we're 17-16 with an RPI over 100. If we win tomorrow I think we've got a shot. But if we win tomorrow, just win the whole [expletive] thing.

Well, that was the final indignity. Losing to Iowa. Being pissed on by a bum after you find yourself in the gutter, so to speak.

Can we fire Bruce now, please? And by now, I mean right now.

As I said a couple months ago, get used to looking up at us in the standings boys!

As a Michigan fan (and DePaul) for the last decade, nitology.com was my best friend. As of March 3rd, Iowa was out by a fairly large margin (the 6th team out), but a lot has happened since then. At some point this week they will start updating either daily or twice daily.

And it doesn't help that half of the NIT field is going to be filled with these low major schools that couldn't win their conference tournaments.

Oregon State led Washington 84-83 with 30 seconds to play. Both teams proceeded to miss their next 7 free throws.

Unless we really botch this coaching hire, we'll be ahead of Iowa by next season.

[expletive] that noise.

Book it.

Next year will be the first time in 6 years where Iowa will actually have middle of the pack talent and depth. Illinois will be more talented if everyone comes back, but if not?

Right now I would bet on Softy McSofterson leaving, at least 1-2 transfers from your other top 100 recruits, not much available to add late and everyone else having a first year coach. Get a good look at that view from below boys.

If Jerrance Howard stays, you won't see much talent loss. Leonard will probably go, but that may be it. Keep Howard and make a good hire and we'll be top half of the B1G in fairly short order.

And it's hard to overstate how mismanaged the current team was talent-wise.

I'm not the least bit worried about being mired behind Iowa.
