Iowa landed the 25 year old felon who served almost 4 years for a robbery he committed when he was 17. It was down to Iowa and Nebraska at the end. Maybe Maryland JUCO basketball completely sucks but he averaged 21, 10 and 5 while shooting 64% from the field as a 6'5, 220 pound wing. The consensus "inside" opinion seems to be that Fran is sure he's going to come in and start at the 3 next year and quite possibly be the leading scorer.

Let the jokes begin...

He seems to have turned his life around. I'd say he earned this chance. Hopefully he proves himself worthy of it.

Iowa adds another piece -- 6'9" or 6'10" (depending on who you ask) Center Gabe Olaseni. His teammate, Eric Katenda, is off to Notre Dame.

ESPN (I know they suck) has him as a 4-star, 15th best center in the country and 92 overall:

This will be the first time in years that there is actual, legitimate competition for spots. And it should be the first time in 5 years that we're playing games that actually mean something. I'm [expletive] pumped.

Garrick Sherman transferring to Notre Dame.

Don't know crap about him other than he's a big white guy, but more size is never bad, especially for ND.

Basketball Recruiting 101: when a prospect is listed at 2 different heights, the shorter one is closest to the truth.

No [expletive], I haven't looked forward to a basketball season in a while, and I'm pretty excited. It'll be interesting to see if they add another guy or bank that scholarship.

I saw a blurb last evening from somebody that he is a legit 6'10" now. I'm struggling to remember the last time we had somebody that tall that possibly had some game, Seth Gorney excluded.

IU gets a commitment from Remy Abell for this year. Supposed to be a pretty good defending guard who can do some things offensively. He isn't a great recruit though (originally committed to Bradley) and this one is a head scratcher. It definitely makes you wonder if there are transfers and other things happening soon.

I do think it's interesting that if Abell comes in and scores a point he'll become the first player from Kentucky to score a point for IU in 68 years.

Brunner was 6'6" at best.

Yes, but he had the athleticism of a 6'10 white guy.

But seriously, I was remembering him being a little bigger than that.

He's bigger than 6 foot 6. I'm 6 foot 5 and he's a good head taller than me.

Jared Reiner and Erek Hansen are the only ones that come to mind since Acie Earl. Maybe Guy Rucker for like a season.

There's no way in hell he's any taller than 6'7" with shoes on. No way.

Man you guys listed Ryan Bowen at 6'7". Even though he was 6'9" both in High School and the NBA. I'm telling you Brunner is pushing 6'8".

And a good "head taller" would put him well over 7'0" if you're 6'5".

Sorry not a good head then, but I stand by he's at the least 6'7" and probably 6'8".

A bad head, then

There is no bad head.

This leaves them 2 over in 2012. Delaney's not gonna like that.
