We'll have the same issue at the end of the season since the regular season ends on a Wednesday this year. But that will only affect me and whoever I'm playing for the championship. :D

I know with the new look, people will have a tough time finding things, and I had trouble finding the schedule myself. If you click on "My Team", then click on schedule, there are 3 tabs right above the year of the schedule that allows you to see the full schedule.

To save the trouble, the first week is currently set to be extended.

Another link I occasionally like to gander at is the roster grid. It's now basically in the same place as the full schedule if you click on your team roster. The first time I really wanted to see it under this new look, I couldn't find it anywhere.

Actually, I'd like to see that bumped up a bit. How many games are each team expected to play between Thursday and Sunday of the short week?
Posted

2 team have 10 games (Pirates, Twins)

19 teams have 9 games

8 teams have 8 games

1 team has 7 games (Padres)

Median is 9 games, mean is closer to 9 than 8.

Sounds good to me.

We've shortened the number of starts for shortened weeks (the week of the All-Star break) in the past, so similar treatment would be to allow more starts for a long "week." We've generally adjusted the starts to equal an average of one start per day, so to me it makes sense to allow 9 starts for the first "week."

9 sounds good to me, too. It's reasonable to think everyone will have 9 starts over the 10 days. That's pretty close to every starter getting 2 starts, even if the #5's might get skipped. If you have a number 5 starter on your team that doesn't pitch for the Phillies or Giants, I'm not sure what to tell you. :D

Make fun of me for Andrew Cashner all you want!

No, make fun of me. I had Cashner in my minor leagues and the whole time I had him, I thought he was a lefty. Looking back to the time the Cubs drafted him, I thought he was a lefty reliever and was speechless that they wasted such a high pick on a reliever. At least he was a lefty in my mind then, as I had a vision of him still pitching the 6th inning for some team at age 47 simply because he was a lefty. :D

during a normal week a major league team plays 6 (occasionally 7) games per week. and we get 7 starts during those weeks.

looks to me like most major league teams will play 7 games during the extended week 1. i think 8 starts seems about right.

During a normal week, you might have 10 starts to pick from if you have 7 different starters and 3 of them going twice.

The week of the all star break, I think we go with 4 starts, which would give us 11 if we went that route. Surely, each captain can come up with 2 starts out of the short week to mix up with the 7 for the full following week?

As of Thursday morning, 14 managers voted and 50% of the vote went towards 8 starts. I'll assume the other two managers didn't care to vote and we will go with 8 starts this week.

That's awfully aggressive so early in the season.

Every 5th day (Thurs - Tues - Sun). Hopefully they build him up over the course of the season. He has a chance to be right there with Halladay this year.

Damn it, Brandon Belt makes the Giants roster out of ST. Now I am going to have to bring him up even sooner so he better be getting AB's.

He is supposed to start for the Giants moving Huff to LF.

He looks good so far too. He's taken more pitches tonight than Corey Patterson's 1st two years combined.
