I hope we're not going to have to police him all year. He took over 24 hours to make his pick in both rounds of the prospect draft, he illegally placed Holliday on his DL, and now this. I don't know what his job situation is, but I wonder if he's really able to keep up with the league.

Chuck has now had 10 starts for week 1.

I'm quite sure that anybody with commish powers (I believe Tim has them as well as Brian) can adjust the scoring to remove the points for the extra starts. I remember a couple days ago that Brian said he wasn't going to be around much this weekend (that's why he wanted to resolve the McGehee issue quickly), so he may not be aware of the extra start issue. Still, it would be nice if Chuck set his lineups properly to avoid the issue in the first place.

have i started too many pitchers for week 1? i tried to remove lackey a day ahead of time and apparently it didn't save. i wanted 2 each from halladay, marcum and garcia and 1 from lackey and niemann, but it seems like it didn't save my roster moves so i may end up with too many. don't really understand the CBS format or why, if i edit my friday lineup on thursday, it won't save the changes.

Did you remember to click on the Save Changes button? Changes don't save automatically; you have to click on the button. If that isn't the problem I don't know what is.

Brian can adjust the points for the extra start.

yeah i thought i did, and some message popped up saying that it would affect subsequent days... don't really remember. i did want to bench lackey because he was facing the yankees and completely [expletive] the bed in his first start.

Are you suggesting that you want to drop Lackey's start and have Garcia go today?

Probably an honest mistake, but none-the-less...we all make them.

Roady,

While you can pick up Hafner mid-week, you can't put him into your lineup for Sunday. If you pick him up and put him on reserves, that's fine. Unless you had an injury to your U, then I guess it's okay.

I was actually looking at pronk earlier today. I was going to drop Loney once lineups were set tomorrow and pick up Hafner.

Um...er...I would like to have Jackson's 35 point start count instead of Dempster's 11 point start. I mean after Dempster's first poor outing I really meant to dump him in favor of Jackson, but...um ...mechanical mistake. It shouldn't matter that I am bringing this issue up several days after Dempster's start. ...

ET needs to have the 24.5 points from Garcia's last start taken away.

My apologies if I come across sounding harsh, but this is not right. Most likely ET made an honest mistake. But I made/did not make line-up decisions based upon ET being out of starts. He can't just start a pitcher a few days later and say accept the 24.5 points from Garcia and subtract the -10 point performance a couple of days ago from Lackey. He needs to get used to checking his line-up early each day and make sure he has the right starters starting.

EDIT: According to live scoring, ET has Niemann starting today for his 10th start.

I find it harder to keep up with the way CBS has changed the layout of the team page. It used to be that there was a separate column for each of the next 7 days; now it's a column for today and one for the next 7 days combined. Not as easy to see at a glance which scheduled starts are during the current scoring period and which are for the next period.

Click the schedule tab - it's there with all the starts.

It would also help if you could have more reserves than 3. I tried to bench lackey and niemann but due to the 3 reserve rule I couldn't. really if you can't set your lineups days in advance and can't move guys to the bench (leaving SP spots open) I'm probably going to have this problem multiple times. Every other league I've been in has those options available and so I use them - I don't really have time or patience to check my team and set the pitchers every day.

Quakers you can believe whatever you want. You're blowing me out so I have no idea why it even matters to you. As it is your post is nonsense, I raised the issue with lackey the day that I saw he had been started and is it really hard to believe that I'd bench a pitcher who scored -30 in his previous outing when he's now facing the best offense in baseball?

You're allowed to exceed the three reserve spots if it's to bench starting pitchers to avoid exceeding the limit. You'll get an illegal roster message on Roadkill, but we ignore those if the only reason is to avoid going over 7 starts.

Ok. I saw the error message and assumed that it was either not going to save my roster or not going to allow any of my players to score points since I had an illegal roster.

The error message will come up - just submit the illegal roster.

As they said, just put the gut on the bench and ignore the illegal line-up message.

ET - I am sorry if my message sounded too harsh and it is true that our game was out of reach. But I did not see a notice on Lackey the day he pitched and then I saw Niemann pitching for your 10th start.

I sincerely hope this was a big to do over nothing and look forward to thrashing your team in the future

Jake McGee seems to have become quite popular all of a sudden; I got two different offers for him less than five minutes apart. Despite what he did to the Cubs today I think McGehee is better than Freese, especially in the power department. Plus, McGee for McGehee has an interesting ring to it. :D

there was just no point in me having both sandoval and mcgehee on the same team, since neither has eligibility other than 3B. i figured i'd just dump mcgehee and get a prospect for him. and so begins my rebuilding mode! might just put half my roster on the trading block and see what offers i get.

no worries, i look forward to you trading all of your prospects and future draft picks to me when i start my firesale.

IMO your team is not that bad. But I had a really good week. I hope Maybin is finally hitting his stride and my Reds connection of Votto, Stubbs, and Phillips is for real.

But on the other hand, maybe you have a good eye for up and coming prospects. You do have Castro.

The only advice I could give is don't quit too early. Two years ago I got blown out in 2 of the first 3 weeks and tied the other week. Felt clearly outmatched. Still came back and won the league at the end.

I should have taken the offer for McGehee. I didn't know NCCF had one too, so I offered Freese to him because I would have had to cut him (or someone else) otherwise.

I agree that it's too early to write the season off. I had the lowest score of the week and I know my team's better than that (Hamilton will start to hit the ball out of the park, Morales hopefully won't be out too much longer, and I now have the awesome Casey McGehee). There are 22 weeks in the regular season and three teams from each division in the playoffs; an 0-1 start isn't even remotely close to a death sentence.

Likewise I hadn't realized he made you an offer with McGehee as well. Apparently he made at least two offers hoping one of us would bite. Had you pulled the trigger before I did I would have accepted your offer of Freese for McGee (especially considering Freese still has one exemption remaining as does McGehee), but given the choice of either one of them (as I had) I like McGehee better than Freese. You snooze, you lose. :P

what's the rule on service time? mcgehee played a few games with the cubs in 2008.

Less that 50 at bats is okay. He's only burned 2 exemptions, so he is currently in his third year and will still be exempt for next year.
