Chuck, unless something happened earlier today that I haven't read about yet you can't place Holliday on your DL at this time since he's not on the major league DL. The Cardinals said they're going to wait a few days to make a decision in hopes that he could avoid the DL. If he actually was placed on the DL and I just don't know about it yet then you're OK.

Chuck's roster is still illegal; Holliday is still on his DL but not on the major league DL (and he may not be placed on it).

I too would like the enjoyment of the entire starting line up all playing on the same day.

C- Soto is off today so that the awesome Koyie Hill can give him a rest

1b- Carlos Pena hurt his thumb and will miss at least 1 day

SS- Jhonny Peralta and the Tigers with the rare Tuesday off day. And that's ignoring that my starting SS is actually day to day and isn't playing much as it is.

3b- Another day to day guy who has been sitting the pines day after day. Minus points so far from that position. Yay! Nothing worse than Denver home games and your guy is not playing.

OF- Matt LaPorta has already gotten a game off. Cleveland has made a habit of making their star catcher the 1b on days they need a break behind the plate. LaPorta is the one that suffers.

Today will be boring.

The only fair thing I can think of is to not allow any points earned by the added player until the illegal roster has been fixed.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure if there's a better solution than that. I think Chuck jumped the gun and assumed he'd be placed on the DL when in fact he has not.

On the flip side, he still has Longoria, who is on the major league DL, in his lineup.

I think Chuck should have to give me Holliday and Longoria as punishment.

Agreed, but also think that if he's got him on the DL so he doesn't have to drop an extra position player from his bench, that's not exactly fair either. It's one thing where some of us had to add extra pitchers to the bench so our teams don't go over the start limit this first week, but otherwise, the bench limits should be adhered to, right?

Well that kind of changes things a bit. I think if he just corrects his roster with placing Longoria on the DL, Holliday on the bench and picking up a 3b he'd technically be okay. It would have been legal for him to bench Holliday since he is hurt. That also allows him to add a player provided he stays legal, which moving Longoria to the DL would have allowed. Then when he adds a 3b, he'll have to figure out who he wants to drop.

Does the commish have the ability to put Longoria on the DL, Holliday on the bench, and Chuck will lose points every day he does not have a replacement? If we are of the opinion that this is a legitimate goof, then that's what should be done.

But at some point players who are illegally placed on the DL should be removed from the team and made a free agent. Then whoever wants to claim them on waivers can do so.

The commish and those with commish powers have the ability to make roster changes and adds/drops for teams, but I'm not just going to arbitrarily do that without the leagues approval to do so.

I'd rather see Chuck fix his roster.

I think Chuck mentioned traveling during the draft. He may not be able to check in every day. The fact that he still has Longoria in his lineup two or three days after he was placed on the Rays' DL makes me think Chuck hasn't checked in recently. If you do think it's appropriate for you to swap Longoria and Holliday you have my OK.

I would agree with all of the above.

Benched M.Stanton, moved A.Soriano from U to OF and B.Wallace from bench to U.

Stanton has been out since opening day and yesterday an MRI revealed a mild strain in the hamstring and will miss at least the next 3 or 4 games. Basically the rest of the scoring period.

Okay, I've switched out Holliday with Longoria on the DL. I've left an empty hole at 3b since he has no one eligible at 3b to fill the hole. And he now has 4 reserves, which is fine as long as he doesn't fill the hole at 3b without releasing someone first.

I'll PM him to let him know what we have done.

I won't be around much at all this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Golfing at PGAWest in Palm Springs! Woo hoo!

Don't be going over on your starts and such! First time is a warning, 2nd time is dishonorable hanging.

thanks for taking care of Chuck's situation, Brian - much appreciated!

I am going to be switching out Jeremy Guthrie for Colby Lewis. Guthrie got hospitalized for pneumonia and was released yesterday, I think. He'll be missing at least his expected start today, and is doubtful for later, so am subbing Lewis, who's start isn't until 4/8.

I know how much sympathy I'm going to receive for this, but with Wells going to the DL that makes FIVE starters I've lost to the dl already this spring.

Being in my rotation is a death knell. Someone trade me Carpenter.
