Saints probably need a RB to pair with Bush since he sucks and Pierre Thomas is always hurt, too. So they'll take Mikel Leshoure from Illinois

The Ravens don't have a lot of needs at this point after filling the CB spot in the first round, so this is a value pick. The only spot they've struggled to have plenty of talent at since Harbaugh took over is WR - Derrick Mason is old, Anquan Boldin is getting older, Todd Heap is a good weapon for a TE but isn't a feature receiver and then there's not a whole lot else in the receiving corps.

So, the Ravens select a receiver with a lot of upside who could eventually take over for Boldin as a big, possession receiver. He's also a terrific value late in the second round. The Ravens select Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami (FL).

Treeman and the Falcons are on the clock. I PMd him.

Jerrel Jernigan, WR, Troy

I was hoping that Hankerson or Titus Young would fall here but Jernigan is probably a purer way to meet their needs.  A small target capable of stretching the field, Jernigan will give the Falcons offense a bit of explosiveness that it was lacking and will give Matt Ryan another target.

Again... Pats could go several ways with this pick. My buddy thinks that Mankins will be back so this pick doesn't have to be a OL pick (which is what I was thinking if Mankins leave). When he saw the picks so far, he thinks the Pats would go defense here (with maybe a look at WR, but he doesn't like any of them well enough to get picked here)...

Patriots select Christian Ballard, DE/DT, Iowa

Steal of the draft. Chargers select LB Martez Wilson, Illinois.

Leshoure to the Saints in the 2nd round is tough to beat IMO. I was hoping you would pick someone else so I can recommend Bears get Wilson (yeah I know it would mean Bears haven't picked an OL in the first 2 rounds, but that's how it goes)...

Now I gotta check things out and give a different recommendation for who the Bears should pick...

I'm not sure how you're gonna go with this pick for the Bears. I've been looking at who's available and nobody really standing out. I can't really tell you who to pick this time around (but if you put a gun to my head, I would probably pick Davon House).

You would like an OL being picked here, but who though? (Brewer/Pinkston/Carpenter/Barksdale/Boling/Rackley/Moffitt)

You can go with a CB like Davon House and it's not a bad pick... (Curtis Brown/Johnny Patrick/Chimdi Chekwa)

You could even go with a DT like Nevis/McClain here and Wilkerson move to the 1 tech. Peppers/(Nevis or McClain)/Wilkerson/Izzy would be a scary line IMO.

WR might be picked here, but either they're small or speedsters or a reach for a possession type WR IMO to just ignore it this round...

Picking a RB here to compliment Forte would be interesting...

While we wait on the Bears to pick, how does everybody feel about doing the third round. I'm up for it if the interest is there.

We should be able to finish up the third round just about the time the actual draft is starting too.

that's a tough one. wilson is as talented athletically as any player in the draft. he just plays when he wants to.

Heard this, but don't agree. He was 3rd in the Big Ten in tackles. And I just read an article that said he had the most "impact" tackles by 9 over JJ Watt. Whatever that means.

Yeah, the OL group is ugly on the board. All would be reaches except for Boling and I personally am not a fan of his. Jack of all trades, master of none type OL. Carpenter's not really a reach either if you think he can play OT.

I like Curtis Brown better than House (who I also like), but I also like Patrick a lot too. CB is probably the best value on the board right now.

Carpenter or one of the CBs would be my recommendation.

Yeah I agree CB is the best value on the board (RB is close with Ryan Williams still available). I wouldn't be disappointed with any one of those 3 CBs being picked here.

With Tice on board, I do feel good about Carpenter playing at RT (possibly even LT if Tice max out his potential) for the Bears. He's also like Boling where he does everything well, but nothing great (quite a few OLs have that in their scouting report in this years draft). At worst, he'll be a solid guard (unlike Chris Williams).

This is why I want Bears to trade down from 29th to early to mid 2nd round and an extra pick if the 5 OTs are gone by then or possibly just reach for a guy like Watkins/Cannon/etc... Because I think if they keep the 29th pick and pick a different position that they're gonna end up like this draft- end of 2nd round and the OLs available are not ideal and going in a different direction again. Basically not getting good to great value with their picks or picking their most pressing need (OL).

I'm cool with Carpenter. I would hope the Bears trade down in the 1st down if the draft unfolded that way and wouldn't be in this situation.

James Carpenter, OT, Alabama

I'll PM raw.

After going WR in the first round, the Packers would probably go either DE, OLB or OL here. All of the outside linebackers that I wanted are long gone so with the final pick of the second round, the Packers select Jabaal Sheard out of Pitt.

Two picks, two guys from Pitt.

We'll go ahead and move on to the third round and anybody can drop out if they're not interested.

So, Andy and the Panthers are up to start the third round. I PMd him.

Panthers may or may not retain DeAngelo Williams, and it's starting to look like it won't happen. Either way, it's time for a RB. Carolina has a decent defense, so they won't mind loading up on offensive players here.

Ryan Williams, RB, Va Tech is the pick.

Drake Nevis is undersized, but can play anywhere on a 4-3 front and what he lacks in filling space on the line, he makes up for in explosiveness.

The Broncos select Drake Nevis, DT, LSU. With Nevis and Houston along with Elvis Dumervil now all together on the d-line, the Broncos have the potential for creating massive havoc in the backfield. If Robert Ayers can reach - or even just come near - his potential, d-line goes from a big question mark to the team's biggest strength. Add in the Champ Bailey/Patrick Peterson/Brian Dawkins trio in the secondary and the Denver defense is looking pretty good.

The Bills and EhDubya are now on the clock. I'll PM him.

It's been well past 24 hours, so I'll go ahead and make the pick.

We'll continue the offense theme for the Bills here and take a guy to help protect the newly drafted Ponder. The Bills select James Pinkston, OG, Pittsburgh.

Treeman and the Browns are now on the clock. I PMd him.

i think the cardinals are up next, unless we are getting really in-depth and projecting they do the vikings thing and don't get their pick in on time.
