Someone needs to go steal him and bring him back to Chicago where he [expletive] belongs.

tranny said we should trade barney for a set-up man

GET IT DONE TRADER THEO

Then he stays on the Cubs for a few years as a reliever, becoming a dominant setup man. In 2014, the Cubs break through and become competitive. Kerry Wood unretires yet again and the duo avenge 2003 together, with Prior getting the last five outs of the NLCS.

Ryan Theriot winds up making the final out, a line drive that Castro grabs with a spectacular diving catch. Theriot sulks on his way back totally missing Soriano approaching and clocking him in the face, standing over him screaming "YOU JUST GOT KNOCKED THE BLEEP OUT"

He was put on the 7-day DL bc he has a slight twinge in his side and the PawSox needed a roster spot when they had to call up a SP when Cook was held out so he could start for Boston this weekend.

I must admit I am following Prior. Is anyone else? He has huge lefty/righty splits, but I suspect he has more MLB time coming to him.

Red Sox Release Mark Prior

By Zach Links [August 17, 2012 at 3:15pm CST]

The Red Sox have released right-hander Mark Prior, according to Brendan McGair of the Pawtucket Times (via Twitter). The move was made in order to create space for the newly-acquired Pedro Beato.

Prior, 31, hooked on with the Red Sox in early May as he looked to attempt yet another comeback. During his time in Triple-A Pawtucket, Prior posted a 3.96 ERA with 13.7 K/9 and 8.3 BB/9 in a small sample size of 25 innings of work. The second-overall pick in 2001 was brilliant in the early portion of his career but has not pitched in the majors since 2006 thanks to a series of shoulder problems.

I really want him back on the Cubs. I don't even care if his walk rate huffs dong, I'm sure that can be worked on, and his K rate is still sexy and he's probably better than some of the other crap we trot out of the bullpen on a regular basis already.

I don't see any reason why the Sox would release him unless Prior asked what his chances were to be on the Sox roster in September and the Sox told him it wasn't gonna happen so he asked for his release. If Scott McClain and Bobby Scales can chill on AAA rosters well past the time where they will ever be considered potential contributors, I don't see why Prior couldn't.

I was curious about that, too. Also, Felix Hernandez's brother must be still on a roster as a favor...

If he can keep a roster spot, Mark Prior can keep a roster spot. The walk rate was atrocious but he clearly still has the ability to be an effective pitcher with that K rate. I know he was slowed dowbn by a non-arm related injury not too long ago. Was he still injured or did he come back from that already?

we sign him and bring him up to pitch one inning at wrigley when the rosters expand. he strikes out the final batter (looking) on a dirty curve and leaves to one of the loudest standing ovations in wrigley history.
